We’ve a midweek full of Premier League fixtures to look forward to including a potential title decider at the Etihad on Wednesday but tonight it’s the Championship that takes centre stage.
Both Luton Town and Middlesbrough can still mathematically catch Sheffield United in second place but it’s a massive longshot which relies on the Blades losing all of their four remaning games, so it’s all about keeping momentum going and finishing the season as strongly as possibly with both clubs all but guaranteed a play-off place.
Tonight’s match could be a dress rehearsal for the play-off final at the end of May and the contrasting stats make this one tricky from a betting perspective. Boro have been free-scoring all season and hit an impressive 18 goals in their last six and hit two or more in seven of their last eight.
But they’re up against one of the best defences in the division and visiting a ground that hasn’t see too many goals this season. Just two of Luton’s last 17 at Kenilworth Road have seen more than two goals scored and the home fans have only witnessed one defeat – to runaway champions Burnley – in that period.
The Hatters are favourites at 6/4 but they’ve been the draw specialists in the Championship this season with 15 draws in 42 outings and a share of the spoils wouldn’t be the worst outcome for either side tonight at 5/2 and with little effectively at stake for either side could be worth a small stake this evening.
