We head in to yet another international break this week, almost a third of the way in to the season.
Yesterday’s 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge earned Man City the point that keeps them clear of the chasing pack and on course for a fourth consecutive title at 4/11.
Liverpool are their nearest challengers at the moment, above Arsenal on goal difference, but at 13/2 are third in the betting behind the Gunners who are 11/2.
Despite a brilliant start to the season the bookies have their doubts over Spurs, who have lost their last two. They’re a distant third in the betting at 33/1.
Aston Villa are only three points off the top but are a massive 150/1 – a bigger price than Newcastle who are, at 100/1, are five points behind them!
The three newly promoted sides all occupy the relegation places and unsurprisingly are favourites to go down. Sheffield United and Luton Town are 1/6 for an immediate return to the Championship. Despite being bottom of the table and five points from safety, the bookies reckon Vincent Kompany’s Burnley have the best chance of survival of the three, making them 8/13 to be relegated.
Leicester have lost their last two but still lead the Championship table and the betting to win the league at 4/7.
They’re tied on 39 points with Ipswich who are 7/2 and, despite being eight points behind, Leeds United are just 4/1 to take the title.
In Scotland Celtic hold a commanding eight point lead (with a game in hand) over Rangers and are just 2/11 to win a 12th Premiership title in 13 years.
Dundee United are almost as short in the Championship, at 2/9, after an excellent start to the season where only Raith Rovers (7/2) have managed to keep pace with them.
