At last, we’re in to the home straight in the countdown to Euro 2020.
Scotland and England both won their final warm-up games even if the 1-0 full-time scorelines were less impressive on paper than the fans would’ve liked but they’re both in a good place going in to the tournament.
There’s a quiet confidence about the Scotland squad who have turned in some impressive performances under Steve Clarke. With the return of a limited number of the Tartan Army inside Hampden for the opener against Czech Republic next Monday the Scots will looking to get their campaign off to a succesful start. Bookies rate Scotland 19/10 and, although it might be misled patriotic optimism, there’ll be plenty of fans having a bit of that.
England kick-off Group D against Croatia on Sunday in a match that could determine who tops the pool. The Croats lost out by a goal to nil to Belgium on Sunday but still looked a force to be reckoned with. Home advantage will of course play in to Gareth Southgate’s side’s hands and the 4/6 currenlty available on the Three Lions will surely have shortened before kick-off.
Only two Euro 2020 qualifiers are in action on Monday. Germany should stroll to a win against Latvia and could do with a morale boosting win to take in to their Group of Death matches which begin with a mouth-watering showdown against World Champions, France next Tuesday.
Ukraine have a similarly tough opener against the Netherlands on Sunday and they wrap-up their preparations with a match against Cyrpus which is live behind the Sky Sport Red Button at 5pm.

The Caddy was oh so close to being back in the winners enclosure once more at the weekend. His 16/1 pick, Collin Morikawa narrowly lost out to winner Patrick Cantlay in a play-off at the Memorial in Ohio. The big story was the exclusion of clear leader Jon Rahm after a positive test, which opened the door for the rest of the field.
It looked like Morikawa would be the main beneficiary but it wasn’t to be, however his play-off defeat still returned some decent each-way money and he helped The Caddy to another NAP win by bettering Bryson Dechambeau in a matchbet.
Keep an eye out for The Caddy’s picks this week.
