He’s done it again! Our man The Caddy is just relentless and made it two wins from three at this year’s majors thanks to Englishman Matt Fitzpatrick keeping his cool to land the US Open, his first win on the PGA Tour.
The Caddy saw it coming; “He is the only Englishman in over 100 years to have won the US Amateur title at this venue in 2013. Fitzy has fond memories around here, he is actually going to stay with the same family this week as he did when winning the US Amateur nine years ago” – and that’s why he continually proves he’s the best in the business.
Tipped at 30/1 the 27 year old from Sheffield, held off Will Zalatoris in the final few holes, including a spectacular approach shot out of a fairway bunker on the 18th for a well deserved win, finishing a shot ahead of the field on -6.
The Caddy already tipped the winner of the Masters this year at 16/1 in the shape of Scottie Scheffler and was unlucky when 40/1 shot Will Zalatoris lost out in a play-off to Justin Thomas at the USPGA. We’re already looking forward to his selections for the 150th Open Championship a few weeks time.
One man who might feature in his thinking is Rory McIlroy, who also helped The Caddy’s followers to some each-way money thanks to his T5 finish at 11/1 for another spectacular weekend for our golf tipster.
Well done to The Caddy once more and well done if you followed his tips and collected some cash.
On the football front, tomorrow will take us to just five months until kick-off at the Al Thumama Stadium, Doha for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Senegal v Netherlands gets things started at 10am on November 21 and fans of England and Wales won’t have too long to wait with both countries also in action on the opening day.
Despite a disappointing opening to their Nations League campaign England are just 1/20 to qualify from their group which includes the Welsh, United States and Iran, against whom they’ll begin their World Cup journey. Gareth Southgate’s men look uneasy second favourites as short as 11/2 to lift the trophy but a favourable looking group, which if they top it, would see them up against the runners-up in Group A which features Netherlands, Senegal, Qatar and Ecuador, means they could plot a safe route to the quarter-finals.
On a quiet day from a betting perspective KevMac has penned his thoughts, 155 days out from the start of the tournament.
