There is a feast of Premier League action over the next two days and Wednesday’s schedule is headlined by the huge top-of-the-table meeting of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
Spurs head into Wednesday’s fixtures at the summit of the table, ahead of second-place Liverpool on goal difference, and the excitement is building ahead of what promises to be a cracker between the title-chasing duo.
Of course, with that game kicking off at 20:00, there could be a new leader by the time the game gets under way, with Leicester City welcoming Everton to the King Power Stadium for a 18:00 affair.
Draw the Play in East Midlands
The Foxes are third in the standings, just one point off the top, and go in search of a fourth straight victory across all competitions after overcoming Sheffield United, AEK Athens and Brighton.
Everton, who beat Chelsea 1-0 last time out, could move to within a point of Leicester with a win this evening and this contest is a hard one to call, suggesting the draw could be a good route to go down at 49/20.
Saints to Pile Misery on Arsenal
Another game kicking off at 18:00 is the clash between Arsenal and Southampton at the Emirates and a victory for the Saints, who are fourth, could see them climb to the summit if results elsewhere go their way.
The Gunners are languishing down in 15th position, just five points above the relegation zone and a fourth straight league defeat would further increase the pressure on manager Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal have lost their last four at home and Southampton, who are unbeaten in their previous five away games, are a very tempting price at 49/20 to come away with all three points.
Mourinho to Work his Magic
The biggest clash of the evening is that contest at Anfield, where Liverpool play host to Spurs. The visitors are on a 10-game unbeaten run across all competitions and have only lost one league game this term – that coming on the opening day against Everton.
As for the Reds, they have also only lost once in the Premier League – a 7-2 thumping at the hands of Aston Villa – and Jurgen Klopp’s men have suffered just one defeat from the last 14 matches across all competitions.
Mourinho has shown his tactical genius against the big teams this season, beating both Manchester clubs and drawing with Chelsea, and he will be hoping to stifle Liverpool’s threat during this contest.
A draw wouldn’t be a bad result for either team and, at 14/5, this could be the way to go.
Blunt Blades to Suffer
On Thursday, one of the two games taking place is at Bramall Lane, where rock-bottom Sheffield United play host to Manchester United as both managers look for a win to ease the pressure.
The Blades have only picked up one point from 12 games, leaving them eight points from safety before Wednesday’s matches, and their record of five PL goals is the lowest in the division.
As for the Red Devils, they are without a win in two outings, but they are still right in the hunt for the title and they could head into the weekend in the Champions League spots depending on other results.
United have won their last nine away league games and it is hard to look past them at 5/11 to make it 10 on the spin.
