STENHOUSEMUIR can get their League Two campaign off to a flier with a home win over Albion Rovers in the big kick off.
After the phony wars of the League Cup, it’s back to league business and the Ochilview side look the pick of the day against the Coatbridge outfit.
Stenny have recruited well with former Aberdeen and St Johnstone midfielder Craig Bryson the pick of the ten players manager Stephen Swift has brought in.
Early reports have indicated they have gelled well in the Cup and they proved that by going to League One high-fliers Montrose and winning comfortably.
It could be a long, hard season for Rovers who are favourites to finish bottom in the fourth tier. And Stenny should get the job done at just short of evens at 20/21.
ANNAN ATHLETIC have already been backed in from 13/8 to 5/4 for their short trip to Stranraer and they can justify the money invested in them, also in League Two.
Peter Murphy’s men made history by becoming the first side from League Two to win their group in the League Cup.
They topped a group including Premiership St Johnstone, Championship side Ayr United and League One Queen of the South.
Annan have kept the nucleus of their side who did so well in the league last season and look to be tooling up to have a real go at promotion for the first time this season.
Stranraer could face a tough campaign though. They look short of numbers having lost 13 players in the summer and it could take some time for the Stair Park side to assemble a squad capable of competing.
They lost 15 goals in just four games in their League Cup group and Annan have the firepower to take advantage of a leaky defence.
ARBROATH were last season’s shock troops and they can pick up where they left off with a win at Ayr United in the Championship.
Dick Campbell’s side agonisingly lost out on the final day to Kilmarnock, then crumbled in the play-offs against nine-man Inverness.
There’s no reason why the Gayfield side shouldn’t be up there again though and they look attractively priced at 8/5 to win at an Ayr United side who look lacking in quality.
Four wins out of four in their League Cup section including at St Mirren shows they don’t have a hangover and they can win at Somerset Park.
