Mark Walker takes us through is best three bets in Scotland where the Scottish Cup semi-finals and League Play-offs are the focus.
Raith Rovers v Dunfermline
DUNFERMLINE can take a step towards a return to the top flight by winning at Fife rivals Raith Rovers on Saturday in the play-offs.
The second leg of the Premiership play-off, quarter-finals sees the Pars travel the short distance to Kirkcaldy after a goalless draw at East End Park this week.
Dunfermline were the better team in the first leg and should have won. But that means they have been inflated to a very backable price of 2/1 to win at Stark’s Park and that should be gobbled up.
Stevie Crawford’s side crashed to a 5-1 defeat at Rovers in March, but that was their last loss apart from a dead rubber game at Alloa where they rested their top players.
A side with a strikeforce of Craig Wighton and Declan McManus should be able to score and they are up against a Raith side who haven’t won in three now and have defensive issues.
Both sides could well lose out to Dundee in the semi-finals anyway, but Dunfermline look to be value to win the chance of facing them.
Dundee United v Hibernian
DUNDEE UNITED are another side who could be value to cause something of a Scottish Cup upset when they play Hibs at Hampden.
Micky Mellon’s men are a huge 10/3 and that looks way too big, given the way they played against Aberdeen at Pittodrie in the quarter-finals where they swept the Dons aside.
Mellon has long prioritised the Cup and believes they’re in with a decent shout of winning it if he can get the likes of Lawrence Shankland, Marc McNulty and Jeando Fuchs to perform to their capabilities then they have a right chance.
United have lost their last two league games badly, but forget that because it matters little and Hibs at odds-on in a Scottish Cup semi-final is a recipe for disaster. They’ve already lost a League Cup semi-final to Hearts this season and blow a great chance to cement third place last week at home to St Johnstone. United look the value call.
Cove Rangers v Airdrieonians
AIRDRIE are hitting form at the right time and can win at Cove Rangers at 13/5 in the Championship play-offs.
The Diamonds have won five out of their last six games with the only setback coming at League One champions Partick Thistle. Included in that spell was a 2-0 win in Aberdeen last week against Cove.
And they look a big price against a side who have only won once in their last five games.
Scottish Tips
- Dunfermline 2/1
- Dundee Utd 10/3
- Airdrieonians 13/5
