Mark Walker previews this weekend’s best bets in Scotland.
Dundee Utd v Hibernian
HIBS have been a major disappointment in their last few weeks, but can get back on track against an off-form Dundee United at Tannadice.
Jack Ross is under pressure from Hibs fans who have been unhappy with their recent downturn in form and two Hampden semi-final losses against Hearts and a particularly woeful effort last week against St Johnstone.
But United’s recent form has fallen off a cliff. They haven’t won since before Christmas and their thumping from St Mirren in midweek was a disaster.
Admittedly, two of Saints goals came from the penalty spot, but the United from earlier in the season would have probably managed to somehow dig out a point.
Their central defensive partnership looks leaky at there wasn’t much on their bench in midweek.
Hibs have too many decent players to be in a slump for long and should have enough in their squad to beat a United side that may yet still face a fight to stay up.
Livingston v Aberdeen
The LIVINGSTON bandwagon shows no sign of slowing down as David Martindale celebrated his all-clear from the SFA to manage the club and they can beat Aberdeen.
The West Lothian side made it 11 games without a defeat in midweek with a late win against Killie and will relish the visit of the Dons at the third time of asking with the game twice being postponed.
Few teams relish going to the Tony Macaroni Arena at the best of times and Aberdeen are scratching for any kind of form right now.
The fans aren’t happy with both manager Derek McInnes and the decision to keep playing Rangers-bound Scott Wright.
They are particularly poor away from Pittodrie – they have won just once in their last ten away games in all competitions and that was at happy hunting ground Rugby Park.
Livi will relish a battle and they could very well have the stomach for it against a struggling Aberdeen side.
Hearts v Dunfermline
HEARTS can win their Championship clash with Dunfermline with three or more goals being scored.
Robbie Neilson’s title favourites had a strange double-header with Raith Rovers where they suffered a shock defeat at Tynecastle before exacting revenge in Kirkcaldy.
Hearts’ last eight games have seen four or more goals scored and they are entertaining at both ends. The addition of proven goalscorer Armand Gnanduillet could clinch them the league and the 11/10 about a Hearts win and over 2.5 goals seems solid.
Recommended Bets
- Hibs 17/20 (McBookie)
- Livingston 9/5 (McBookie)
- Hearts & Over 2.5 Goals (21/20 (McBookie)
