St Mirren v Kilmarnock
ST MIRREN can add to managerless Kilmarnock’s woe with a win in Paisley today.
The Rugby Park side’s experiment with Alex Dyer came to an unfortunate end after a second half collapse to St Johnstone, which was followed by that rarest of results at present – a resounding victory for Celtic.
Next up is a trip to a Paisley side who have a great chance of making a top six place. They went down to Hibs in midweek but had to play most of the game with ten men after keeper Jak Alnwick was sent off.
Up until then they were the better side against a Hibs team who had won their last two games prior to their game in Renfrewshire.
Jim Goodwin impresses more with each passing week in the Buddies’ dug-out and he’s also built a half-decent squad with plenty of options, especially up front.
Killie appear to be in freefall and are in serious danger of being dragged into a relegation dogfight. And an odds-against price looks value for the hosts.
Alloa v Queen of the South
QUEEN OF THE SOUTH have recently impressed after an awful start to the season and can send Alloa deeper into trouble at the Indodrill Stadium.
Allan Johnston’s side have won four of their last five games in all competitions and, in striker Connor Shields, have a young man who looks to be the perfect successor for 38-year-old Stephen Dobbie. He has netted seven goals in his last six games.
QoS have already defeated Alloa in Dumfries this season and Peter Grant’s side are on a wretched recent run of one win in their last eight games.
Previously, any trip to Clackmannanshire was dodgy for most teams but the Wasps have only won one game at home in the league all season.
And the Palmerston Park side can send Alloa further into the mire with a win.
Morton v Raith Rovers
RAITH ROVERS can bounce back from a Fife Derby hammering from Dunfermline and win in Greenock against a Morton side who could yet face trouble in the Championship.
Arbroath won for the first time on the road last week at Cappielow and Morton are a club who have problems off the park. Skipper Jim McAlister has also just retired.
Morton haven’t won in their last six games and face a Rovers side who thumped Dundee last week and will want to get their midweek Pars loss was just a blip. Rovers hammered Morton 5-0 in Kirkcaldy earlier this season and can get another three points in Inverclyde.
