The final day of March is here and it’s a busy one for race fans with five meetings across the UK and Ireland to look forward to.
We’re focusing on the jumps card at Ludlow (12.30pm-3.30pm; seven races) and our tipster has got selections for all the action.
Don’t forget you can watch every race from Ludlow, as well as all the UK and Irish action, via live streaming when logged into MansionBet.
12.30 – Join RacingTV Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (1m7½f)
French import LOST IN MONTMARTRE has excellent prospects starting out on UK soil for her new connections if she’s as good as her rating suggests. Tabitha Worsley takes the ride here and her 5lb claim helps to balance the book with most of these rivals. Title-chasing Harry Cobden is on Monete and they are the dangers.
Selection: Lost In Montmartre @ 7/4
13.00 – Weatherbys Hamilton Handicap Chase (2m4f)
Master Work scored at Taunton (2m2f, good to soft) in December and backed that up earlier this month when second to Ravenhill Road at Doncaster off this mark. He’s got to be respected again but EVANDER has been consistent this season (figures of 4312P2) bar when encountering very testing ground at Sandown in February and he lost nothing in defeat behind Whoshotthesheriff last time. He may be able to concede weight all round.
Selection: Evander @ 9/4
1.30 – Watch On RacingTV Handicap Hurdle (1m7½f)
After getting on the scoresheet at Newton Abbot (2m1f, good) in September, THE BEES KNEES doubled-up at Musselburgh in early November and ran fine races in defeat afterwards at Cheltenham and Kempton in very competitive handicaps. He remains on a mark of 128 here and may find this a good opportunity on his return from a short break, with drying ground in his favour.
Selection: The Bees Knees @ 13/8
2.00 – Boyne Cup (3m)
The returning Coolanly should be watched in the betting and the likelihood is that Cuban Pete will banish memories of an early fall at Sandown last month. However, they both may struggle to contain BALLYMOY for the Nigel Twiston-Davies team. His first placed efforts at Doncaster and Newbury in January/February read well and he justified cramped odds with a minimum of fuss at Catterick since.
Selection: Ballymoy @ 2/1
2.30 – Weatherbys Hamilton Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (2m5f)
Nicky Henderson’s mare BARBADOS BLUE just didn’t have the speed to fend off her rivals at Doncaster at the start of the month when she got to the front in the long home straight and she was undone by an improver on handicap debut from the Alan King yard. Nico de Boinville – who has an excellent record here – takes over and she’s proven over this trip on good ground. A first win since her absence looms.
Selection: Barbados Blue @ 7/4
3.00 – Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Novices’ Hurdle (2m5f)
FRANCO D’AUNOU is likely to start odds-on here after his impressive Ffos Las success last month. That form has been boosted since and it’s probable that Venetia Williams’ six-year-old can go in again, if he handles this faster ground. Chives looks the main threat, though Artemision isn’t dismissed completely despite unseating last time.
Selection: Franco D’aunou @ 1/2
3.30 – Heath Farm Meats Magnus-Allcroft Memorial Open Hunters’ Chase (2m4f)
San Benedeto has been struggling this season but he’s the class act in here if he puts things together on his Hunter Chase bow. He’s probably going to be short enough in the betting but Paul Nicholls is adept at putting a good one into this sphere. Chef D’equipe is a dangerous opponents but lack a recent run and so MASTER DANCER, fourth here at the start of the month on his own return from an absence, is taken to build on that showing and run a big race.
Selection: Master Dancer @ 8/1
