My petrol bill will be low this weekend with back-to-back meetings at my local track of Newmarket. Having travelled down to Goodwood and then up to Newcastle last night, it is very welcome to be at Newmarket!
The Racing League was great fun to be a part of and it was brilliant to kick it off with a winner for Andrew Balding. I like the concept and I believe that it’ll be a success.
Saturday – Newmarket
13:35 – AL SIMMO
AL SIMMO SP
has racked up a brilliant sequence of three wins so far this year. She showed a fantastic attitude to beat off her rivals at Pontefract and she has only gone up 2lbs in the weights for that win. I think she is open to further progress, particularly given the fact that Steph Hollinshead (her trainer) has given her a nice break since. The small field will suit her and I’m really looking forward to riding her.
14:10 – BETWEEN THE SHEETS
BETWEEN THE SHEETS 16/1
has been given an initial mark of 72 which looks fair enough. She faded over this trip at Ripon, but she has been given a nice break by Michael Bell since then. She is not a horse I know too well, but Michael Bell has had two winners this week and the yard is clearly in form so that is a positive. We will have to improve a fair amount more on current form but that is not out of the question.
Stay safe,
Hayley!
