Liverpool Hoping to Catch Tottenham Cold

19/12/2021 admin

Tottenham return to Premier League duties for the first time in two weeks on Sunday when they welcome Liverpool to north London.

The rise in Covid-19 cases has caused chaos across Football, and six games in the Premier League have already been postponed.

For now, it looks like the three scheduled games left in the Premier League on Sunday will go ahead, with Liverpool travelling to Tottenham, Newcastle United hosting Manchester City, while Wolves welcome Chelsea to Molineux.

Liverpool to Bring Spurs Back Down to Earth

It is fair to say Tottenham are not where they would like to be this season, with Antonio Conte’s men seventh in the Premier League table.

Spurs have struggled to string results together on the whole, but recently they have improved to climb the table.

Conte’s side have only lost one of their last six games, but rustiness could be an issue this weekend.

Spurs have not played for two weeks, and instead of easing their way back into action, they face a rampant Liverpool.

The Reds have won eight games on the spin in all competitions, and even though they have Covid-19 worries of their own, they do not look like slowing down, particularly with Mohamed Salah firing on all cylinders having scored five goals in his last five games.

Spurs are set to play without Son Heung-Min, and with Harry Kane out of form, an away win to nil appeals at 7/4.

Newcastle Brace Themselves for City Onslaught

Reigning champions Manchester City ran riot on Tuesday evening as they thumped injury-plagued Leeds United 7-0.

While Leeds did not help themselves with some sloppy errors, City looked full of confidence with talisman Kevin De Bruyne back to his best after an injury-hit season so far.

Pep Guardiola’s side have won seven straight matches in the league, scoring 20 goals in the process.

Newcastle look like they could be in for a rough afternoon, with the Magpies conceding seven goals in their recent defeats to Leicester and Liverpool.

The Magpies have won just one of their last 27 Premier League games against the Citizens, and Guardiola’s men are 17/10 to score over 3.5 goals on Sunday afternoon.

Tuchel Expecting Immediate Response

Chelsea have started to stutter of late, with a mix of injuries and Covid-19 cases causing problems for the reigning European champions.

They showed signs of fatigue against Everton in midweek, with the Toffees able to leave Stamford Bridge with a share of the points.

Wolves won their first game in four attempts when they beat Brighton in midweek, but they should struggle to penetrate the Chelsea defence.

Even with several injuries, Tuchel has a big enough squad at his disposal to compete on all fronts, and an away win at 10/13 looks too good to ignore.
