Jumps racing takes centre stage at Lingfield on Monday afternoon, as they stage a seven-race pre-Christmas card at the Surrey venue.
It kicks off with a bumper on the Polytrack, before six races over obstacles on the turf, with racing from 12.30pm-3.30pm and ground conditions forecast to be heavy, soft in places.
You can watch all the action, as well as Monday’s cards at Musselburgh and Wolverhampton, via live streaming when logged into MansionBet and our tipster has a race-by-race preview of the Lingfield card.
12.30 – Casumo Bet 10 Get 20 Open NH Flat Race (2m)
Zucayan has been runner-up in both starts in turf bumpers, though the form of his first effort is not strong and trainer Fergal O’Brien has found things going a little quiet of late.
He’s in the mix on form but there are some decent prospects amongst the newcomers. RUDY CAPRICE looks a likely one for Nicky Henderson and could be the one to force Zucayan into settling for a supporting role again.
Selection: Rudy Caprice @ 15/8
1.00 – Casumo Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Hurdle (2m7f)
Camelot mare Soloist showed improved form when third over C&D last month and has a chance therefore under Charlie Deutsch but she may need to step forward again.
DRAGOON SPRINGS was beaten around six-lengths last month in a better race than this over 2m5½f at Ascot and could be set to improve upped again in trip with the handicapper having eased him 2lb.
Selection: Dragoon Springs @ 6/1
1.30 – Download The Casumo App Today Handicap Chase (2m7½f)
Colonel Keating was rather unlucky not to get on the scoresheet last season, the Yeats gelding finishing second on his last three starts – including over this C&D.
He’s the one to beat on form but he’s got a lot of weight to carry even with Tabitha Worsley claiming 5lb and his record after a lay-off is mixed.
The stable form of Venetia Williams is excellent lately and ISTORIUS didn’t run badly at Ffos Las over this sort of trip last month. He’s only a 5YO and is entitled to get better, so he’s perhaps some value against the forecast market leader.
Selection: Istorius @ 9/4
2.00 – Casumo Horse Racing And Sports Betting Handicap Hurdle (2m)
ELHAM VALLEY hasn’t fired in two runs this season but the early promise shown last terms isn’t to be forgotten and he did beat Hudson De Grugy on heavy ground at Sandown in this month last year.
Conditions are favourable and he’s dropped to a workable mark. He was behind his old foe Hudson De Grugy and Miss Heritage (trio well beaten) at Sandown last month but these conditions are appealing for a revival.
Selection: Elham Valley @ 11/2
2.30 – Casumo Proud To Support British Racing Novices’ Handicap Chase (2m)
Olly Murphy’s strike-rate has dropped a little in recent weeks after a very positive time of it in November but he’ll heave excellent prospects here with FEARLESS.
He returned for his first start since March and finished a fine second on chasing bow at Ayr (2m½f, good to soft) last month behind next-time-out Doncaster winner Dr Sanderson.
That was a good effort behind a rival with plenty chasing experience and clearly in form. Fergus Gregory retains the mount this afternoon and they may go a spot better.
Selection: Fearless @ 13/8
3.00 – Join Casumo Today Maiden Hurdle (2m3½f)
He’s likely to be one of the shorter-priced favourites on the card, but GERICO VILLE is worthy.
He shaped with promise on his hurdles bow over C&D in October and built on that to be second back here last month, splitting the market-leading pair Viva Lavilla and Kyntara as he finished second (six-lengths clear of the third).
The winner was second behind a bright prospect in a Sandown Grade 2 novice this month and that reflects well on Chris Gordon’s charge in the context of bagging this maiden.
Selection: Gerico Ville @ 8/13
3.30 – Gamble Responsibly With Casumo Handicap Chase (2m)
Ardmayle is a former C&D scorer and he shaped nicely last month on his seasonal comeback when third here over further, so he should be considered a contender, but preference is for GALLIC GEORDIE.
He’s a dual C&D winner and there was money for him on his seasonal reappearance here where he obliged in very straightforward style. The assessor has put him up 11lb, but that might not prevent the follow up if he’s in the same mood now.
Selection: Gallic Geordie @ 9/4
