All-weather racing is left to carry the show on this Saturday afternoon following abandonments at Warwick and Newbury amid freezing UK temperatures.
Lingfield is now part of the main attraction on terrestrial television and our tipster has selections for all the action on the card (11.45am-3.45pm, eight races).

11.45 – Betway Apprentice Handicap (1m4f)
MOOHAREEBA almost certainly has further progress in her and she should be firmly in the mix under talented youngster Benoit Sayette for the John Gosden yard. They had more in hand than the winning margin suggests when landing a 1m3f Kempton handicap late last month and a 4lb rise in the ratings looks very fair. The consistent Galahad Threepwood likely has another challenge in him following an improved performance to win over C&D recently, while top-weight Guroor is an honest benchmark, albeit the weight concession is a worry.
Selection: Moohareeba @ 4/5
12.20 – Bombardier ‘March To Your Own Drum’ Novice Stakes (1m)
Ahdab was nailed in the final strides over C&D in a handicap when last spotted in October. Ryan Moore’s mount sets the standard returned to novice company and has gone well fresh before, so the winter absence isn’t any concern. LAMMAS did plenty of the spadework on debut at Kempton (7f) last month before being picked off by the experience of Year Of The Dragon. The pair were well clear and with progress to come now, David Loughnane’s charge is a big player. Tackleslikeaferret has shown ability in two starts at Southwell and could be one to go well at a decent price now switched to this more conventional surface.
Selection: Lammas @ 2/1
12.50 – Play Ladbrokes 5-A-Side On Football Fillies’ Novice Stakes (7f)
Give ‘Em The Slip didn’t do much wrong when second over C&D a fortnight ago. That was a second run for the Oasis Dream filly and a first on the all-weather; and she’s got excellent prospects of going one better. GURKHA GIRL built on a promising debut run over C&D when second at Kempton last month behind an all-the-way winner. Ryan Moore is an eye-catching booking now and, with perhaps more emphasis on stamina today, they may be the answer.
Selection: Gurkha Girl @ 9/4
1.25 – Ladbrokes Watch Racing Online For Free Fillies’ Novice Stakes
The speedy Mahale was worn down late over 5f here last time out and is more exposed than most of these. She also must prove she can reserve some gas in the tank for the extra furlong. Rita The Cheetah won at Wolverhampton in the autumn on debut but must improve to defy the penalty now, while Mummy Bear was second over C&D recently and should improve for the Richard Hannon team with Ryan Moore up now. ROSIE POWERS is a very interesting newcomer for Archie Watson. She cost €190,000 and is related to a few winners. She’s well worth looking out for in the betting.
Selection: Rosie Powers @ 5/2
2.00 – Get Your Ladbrokes Daily Odds Boost Handicap (6f)
All of the quartet have positives. Charlie Fellowes, Water Of Leith and Secret Handsheikh have won their last seven starts combined, though interestingly none of those wins have come here at Lingfield. Dual Wolverhampton scorer Water Of Leith looks best-placed of the trio for further progress now. TWILIGHT HEIR returns from a break for his all-weather/handicap bow and Michael Bell’s charge posted some very promising turf form in the summer. There could be plenty more to come from him.
Selection: Twilight Heir @ 11/2
2.35 – Bombardier British-Hopped Amber Beer Handicap (1m)
Crackling was collared in the shadows of the post at Southwell last time by the hat-trick completing Daafr. That form is solid and he’s got leading claims as part of a strong book of rides for Ryan Moore this afternoon. Experienced mare Accomplice has won 2-3 starts over C&D since the turn of the year and should go well but marginal preference is for APEX KING, who ran well for a long way (made running) in a good race here last month. He’s closely matched with Accomplice on that form and is 3lb better off with the mare now.
Selection: Apex King @ 9/2
3.10 – Betway Casino Handicap (1m2f)
Top-weight Stopnsearch had a near miss over C&D 10 days ago and should give another strong account from 2lb higher in the ratings. There are dangers aplenty however. Convertible has two good efforts over track and trip of late and needs considering alongside penalised Capla Crusader, a winner over C&D a fortnight ago. Amsby is worth noting on handicap bow but AZTEC DREAMS shaped really nicely at a massive price here six weeks on the back of an absence. That race has worked out well and the French import looks a player eased in the ratings.
Selection: Aztec Dreams @ 11/1
3.45 – Betway Handicap (6f)
A tough finale and the betting reflects this being wide open. Garth Rockett and Inevitable Outcome were both second here last time while Real Estate, Lua D Mel and Desert Land are former C&D scorers. CAPPANANTY CON notched his second C&D win a fortnight ago, reversing a close previous second with Swiss Pride while accounting for the progressive Power Of Me in the process. A 3lb rise shouldn’t prevent another bold showing.
Selection: Cappananty Con @ 4/1
