So, perhaps this is the wrong time to play Rangers, who have scored 12 goals in their wins over Hamilton and Aberdeen since their trip to Portugal.
Rangers have an 11-point cushion at the top of the Scottish Premiership, and a win on Thursday would be a Europa League statement from Gerrard’s side.
