After an eventful week one Super Week, it’s time to see how the LEC has settled.
After a week that saw top sides lose to lower-ranked sides, only to themselves lose to lower-ranked sides. It’s fair to say the LEC is well and truly back. The shock first spot goes to Misfits, who were the only side to go 3-0. Rogue, Astralis, MAD Lions, and G2 Esports hold onto joint second with 2-1 opening week results. Just the one side, SK Gaming failed to pick up a single win.
Rogue v Misfits (Friday)
Probably not the week two battle for top spot many people expected, especially given how good Rogue was in Spring, and how poorly Misfits finished. But alas, here we are in week two with Rogue chasing leaders Misfits, with another perfect week for Misfits set to put them in a commanding early lead.
As for Misfits, they’ve taken a surprise LEC lead into week two, recording the only perfect record for Summer Split with just three games played. It’s unlikely Misfits can keep up their week one form for the entire season, however, at 29/20, they might just be worth a shot. Rogue are favourites for the match, due to past performances but the form is in the favour of Misfits. With another week of preparations, and understanding the metagame, that might just give Rogue the advantage they need.
Vitality v Fnatic (Friday)
Vitality started Super Week perfectly, recording a big win against Schalke 04. Day two and three saw them fall to Rogue and Misfits respectively, as they languished at the lower end of the table come week two. While Vitality isn’t favourites for many matches, Fnatic is looking vulnerable with their newly changed roster, and it could be an ideal game for Vitality to spring a surprise.
It’s been a tough start for Fnatic. A surprise Sunday win against Rogue saw them recover some pride after losses to Misfits and MAD Lions, Fnatic’s new roster is showing some positive signs, but it looks already like it’s going to be a long Summer Split for the former LEC champions. While Worlds qualification will be the main goal for Fnatic, they won’t want to leave it too late to start picking up wins. Both teams will come into the week with 1-3 records, we’re backing Vitality for this series at 1/1 odds.
MAD Lions v Rogue (Saturday)
It’s only taken us until week two to get our Spring Split Grand Final rematch, and both sides head into week two on equal records. MAD Lions got off to a bumpy start losing to G2 Esports, however, Saturday and Sunday saw them record wins against Fnatic and Astralis respectively. They’ll start the week against Excel, but all eyes will be on the game against Rogue. Both sides will think they can win, but our likely winner is MAD Lions.
As for Rogue, they come into the week equal with MAD, though they face a tougher test on Friday, which could put pressure on them to beat MAD Lions. For us, this should be MAD Lions’ game to lose, though Rogue will obviously want to get revenge for their Spring Split loss, MAD Lions should come into the series at an advantage, keep an eye on the odds after the Friday fixtures as it could impact the odds for this series.
