Week six saw yet more shuffling in the LEC with Fnatic and Rogue both going 2-0, as they started to carve out a gap ahead of the teams below. G2 Esports lost to Fnatic, but did manage to pick up one victory as they continued to salvage their split. It was also another 2-0 week for Misfits Gaming as they continued to keep the pressure on the top two. Week seven sees the top two sides battle it out on Friday, with the two sides unlikely to go into the final week on joint points.
MAD Lions v Astralis
A mid-table hype match kicks things off in week seven. With MAD Lions looking to cement their playoff spot in week seven, joint-sixth place Astralis will be looking to pick up a big win as they try to make a late charge on the play off spots. MAD Lions had an ok week in week six, though Astralis’ 0-2 week has caused some headaches for them heading into an important week.
With Astralis desperate for a win, they’ll be in with an outside shot of taking down MAD Lions. However, the 0-2 week has seen Astralis’ odds of winning against MAD Lions this weekend take a major hit. For us, MAD Lions are the obvious choice of a winner in this one. With their odds of 1/4
, however, you might want to look at adding them as part of an acca bet.
Fnatic v Rogue
This fixture did not look like it would be a title decided a few weeks ago. That’s all been flipped upside down, however, with both sides in joint-first place the Saturday fixture could decide who goes into playoffs in the better standing. Fnatic’s recent record and an upturn in form would lead us to think they’re the favourites for this match-up. Rogue is also in a good vein of form, however, Fnatic is 1-0 in the head-to-head which might be enough for many.
For us, we’re going to be backing Fnatic this weekend at 1/1
odds. Fnatic’s turn in form has been dramatic. In a season when many said they might not make playoffs, especially given their pre-season roster changes. Rogue will certainly be in with a shot, so keep an eye on them also, however, Fnatic is favourites for a reason as they try to take their first LEC title since 2019.
G2 Esports v Misfits
Despite a good win in week six, G2 Esports’ loss to Fnatic was a setback in their climb back up the LEC table. On the other side of the Rift you’ve got a Misfits side that’s continued to go against all odds and stay at the top of the table. Even now, in week seven with just five matches left to play, many people still don’t rate them as title contenders. As for G2 Esports, it’s another must-win weekend, with games against SK Gaming and Misfits Gaming.
With all that said, we’re going to finally back Misfits Gaming here. Their recent form, upset potential, and sticking power at the top makes me feel that they might just have enough to slow down G2 Esports’ climb to the top. At 21/20
, Misfits won’t be everyone’s favourites, however, that’s exactly what makes them such a good option this weekend.
