After four weeks of play, the LEC table is starting to take shape. Friday will see us finish the first round of fixtures before Saturday takes us into the second half.
Early favourites G2 Esports and Rogue find themselves in joint-first place after the first four weeks. Fnatic, who had a poor start to the season has really found their feet as we enter the half-way stage. This week we’ll take a look at G2 Esports v Schalke 04 as they try to maintain a presence at the top. Fnatic as they take on a MAD Lions side finally finding their feet, and lastly Misfits Gaming taking on SK Gaming as SK try to catch up with the playoffs pack.
Misfits Gaming v SK Gaming
First up on Saturday we look to the middle of the table with Misfits Gaming looking to climb into playoff contention. Before the weekend, Misfits find themselves just outside the top four but well within the playoff spots. If they can make the halfway stage in and around the same place Misfits will be looking good for playoffs. Despite SK Gaming having looked slightly better in recent matches, we think Misfits Gaming should take this one at 10/13
.
As for SK Gaming, week four saw them lose to Fnatic, however, a victory against last-place Vitality, while expected, gives them a needed boost. Week five will be another tough week, with Schalke 04 to come first on the Friday before the more winnable fixture against Misfits on Saturday. Despite being underdogs, we think SK Gaming could cause an upset here at 21/20
to take down Misfits.
Schalke 04 v G2 Esports
As mentioned earlier, Schalke 04 face off against a G2 side that’s starting to look like a fierce opponent and one with an LEC title in their grasp. Schalke 04, however, will feel like they have a chance, given their current situation on the table. Schalke 04 did slip up in week four though. Dropping two games against sides below them including the at the time last-place side, Astralis. Schlake 04 are 9/4
odds to win the series as they look to bounce back from week four.
G2 Esports, despite a few slip-ups, is starting to look like a complete package. Rekkles is settling in on the ADC role and the side looks to have improved. They still have issues in draft, and oftentimes look like they’re messing around. However, when they go big, they tend to win. Week four was hyped up as the battle at the top between G2 and Rogue but G2 Esports game out as the clear victor on that day. G2 Esports are 10/31
to take the series as they look to take a commanding presence on the top of the LEC table.
Fnatic v MAD Lions
Fnatic finds themselves in third place as we enter week five, with Rogue and G2 Esports only just above them. Week four saw Fnatic do the double over SK Gaming and Excel, the latter of which caused some controversy due to a bug in the game which caused the series to be remade. Fnatic was able to win it and they now look towards the top of the table. Given recent form, we think Fnatic should be taking this series with odds of 10/21
.
After a rocky start, MAD Lions appear to have found their footing. Week four was billed as a tough week for the Lions, and whilst they did lose to Rogue, victory against Schalke 04 has seen the MAD Lions rise up the table. We have them at 8/5
as outsiders for this series, but keep an eye on the Lions this weekend as they could be a surprise package for Fnatic.
