After a weekend of shocks and upsets, we’re all set for the LEC Spring Split Grand Finals weekend.
With a Grand final against MAD Lions on the cards for Sunday, Saturday sees our two hopefuls Rogue and G2 Esports face off. The first and second-place finishers in the regular season find themselves battling for a chance to claim the title. Both sides came to the finals weekend after performing well in their series.
G2 Esports v Rogue
While G2 Esports has not had a great Spring Split playoffs thus far. While it’s easy to say they’ll always pull through in the end, G2 Esports has not had it all their own way in the playoffs. Almost dropping the series to Schalke 04 in Round 1, MAD Lions dismantled the LEC super team to send G2 to the lower bracket. The good news for G2 is that in Rogue, they come up against an opponent that they’ve beaten twice already this Split.
Some might say Rogue is lucky to be in the Lower Bracket Final this weekend, given their loss to MAD Lions was fairly convincing, and they showed a lot of cracks in their game against Schalke 04. Rogue likes to play a slower, more patient game than G2 Esports. It’s a style that often sees them take down sides that can’t match them once they reach the later stages in the game. G2, however, can match them, and force Rogue to change their style. Something Rogue hasn’t been able to adapt to in recent meetings.
While I don’t think this will be a 3-0 for G2 Esports, it’s hard to see past them taking down Rogue here. There’s also an element of emotion in the prediction, something in me just can’t see past how good a G2 Esports v MAD Lions Grand Final will be. You can back G2 Esports at 10/23
on MansionBet to take the win against Rogue alongside other odds for per map results.
Grand Final v MAD Lions
MAD Lions has finally shown the potential everyone saw in them at the start of the season. While it took till the latter stages of the regular split to come through, it put the side in a perfect position to challenge for an LEC title. Based on the prediction above, MAD Lions should be facing G2 Esports, though for me the opponent won’t matter. This feels like MAD Lions Split to lose, so I’d back them to take the win.
