With the competition coming into the final three matches, we look ahead to the final weekend of EU Masters.
It’s been some event, with a pair of quarter-finals causing huge upsets, with BTXL taking down Misfits Premier, and Mousesports beating BIG. Karmine Corp and UCAM Esports Club did manage to win their series, setting up a highly anticipated semi-final. With the two top seeds playing each other, and the two lower seed sides facing off.
UCAM Esports Club v Karmine Corp
UCAM Esports Club has so far been unbeaten in the EU Masters. The side from the Spanish regional league has maintained dominance throughout the EU Masters and now looks set to continue their run against Karmine Corp. They don’t come into the series as favourites, however, with MansionBet having them as outsiders at 20/73
.
On the other hand, we have Karmine Corp, who did drop a match in the quarter-final to Suppup eSports but are yet to lose a series. The French side came in as favourites and their showing at the event thus far has proven why. They breezed through their group, and, providing they can get past UCAM they should win the entire event. You can pick up Karmine at 39/20
, and it would be the side I’d back based on the form table so far.
BTXL v Mousesports
It’s certainly not the semi-final most people expected. BTXL only made it out of their group thanks to a great final day, and mousesports were similarly fortunate to make it. More shockingly was the fact both the second seed sides made it through their big test in the quarter-finals, setting up what could be an exciting Grand Final.
Odds on both sides are very close, with BTXL at 10/11
, and mousesports at 5/7
. For me, the romance of seeing BTXL make it to the Grand Final is too hard to pass up. BTXL were not expected to even win the UK regional league in the first place, let alone EU Masters, and a Grand Final showing certainly wasn’t on the cards for most. While mousesports from the German league will be no pushover, especially as they beat German first seed BIG 2-0 in the previous round. This one goes to BTXL for me.
Grand Final
If my above predictions come true, it’s hard to see anyone but Karmine Corp taking the title. In fact, whoever wins in the first semi-final is going to be the favourite to win the Grand Final regardless. The Grand Final will also move to a best of five, whereas the previous final rounds have been best of three. That change won’t favourite any team in particular, however, it is an unusual scenario for both sides so be sure to watch the odds on that after Saturday’s semi-finals.
