THE major European leagues are in shutdown for the summer so punters looking for their weekend fix of football need to look to Scandinavia.
The Norwegian season is about a quarter of the way through already and the big surprise is how much Bodo/Glimt are struggling.
Kjetil Knutsen’s side caught the eye last term by beating Roma, Celtic and AZ Alkmaar on their march to the quarter-finals of the Conference League.
But there has been a hangover back on domestic duty with the champions sitting in a lowly eighth place heading into the latest round of fixtures.
Bodo are 11 points behind pace-setters Lillestrom, albeit with a game in hand, so can ill afford another slip today when they travel to Kristiansund BK.
But it’s hard to see anything but a victory for the champions against a team sitting rock bottom after collecting just a point from their first seven games.
McBookie price a win for Knutsen’s men at 13/20 with the draw 14/5 and a home win at 31/10.
Kristiansund have shipped eight goals in their three home games so it could pay to back Bodo to find their shooting boots.
Bet365 price over 2.5 Bodo/Glimt goals at 7/4 and the 10/3 on offer for the champions to win both halves also looks good. In the scorer markets, I fancy Amahl Pellegrino for a goal at 7/5 with Bet365 as he has netted three times in his last three outings.
The game of the weekend in Norway comes tomorrow as leaders Lillestrom host fallen giants Rosenborg.
It’s now four years since Rosenborg, who have ruled Norway a record 26 times, got their hands on the title.
That drought doesn’t look like ending this season after a poor start that has left them 10 points off the pace in sixth place, although they also have a game in hand.
Rosenborg desperately need a win in Lillestrom to get back in the hunt but McBookie make them 11/5 outsiders with a home win priced at evens.
The leaders have been rock solid at home, winning all five games to nil, so backing them for another victory looks like the shrewd move.
Rosenborg have started to click up front, netting seven times in their last two matches, so BTTS looks likely although the price isn’t great at 4/6 (McBookie). Over 2.5 goals is better value at 19/20 with Bet365.
It’s tight at the top in Finland with KuPS and HJK Helsinki tied on points.
KuPS travel to third-placed Honka in the game of the weekend after drawing 0-0 with HJK last time out. It should be tight and I fancy the half-time draw at evens with Bet365
Super Singles
- Amahl Pellegrino anytime scorer (7/5, Bet365)
- Over 2.5 Bodo goals (7/4, Bet365)
- Lillestrom to win (evens, McBookie)
- Half-time draw at Honka (evens, Bet365)
McBookie star bet
- Backing Bodo\Glimt to win the first half at Kristiansund pays 23/20.
