Atalanta travel to Turin to take on champions Juventus looking to breathe fresh life into the Serie A title race. A Juve win and the leaders will surely be crowned champions again, but if Atalanta can spring a surprise they could reduce the gap to just six points.
Atalanta Can Upset the Odds
Juventus have only won one of their last four meetings with La Dea and that poor sequence can be extended to five when they meet in Turin.
Juve are moving closer towards their eighth straight Serie A title, but Gian Piero Gasperini’s men are emerging as Italy’s second-best team and the great entertainers too.
Their brilliant record since the restart has them looking to jump into at least second place. Even the champions should be concerned about Atalanta.
Atalanta have won every game since the restart, beating Napoli and Lazio along the way, and each of their last 11 matches in all competitions either side of lockdown, a run which has seen them reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
They also boast the league’s strongest away record with 41 goals in 15 Serie A away trips. The Bergamo outfit have avoided defeat at Napoli, Roma, Inter and Lazio this season and Juve should be jittery after their stunning 4-2 loss at AC Milan in midweek.
Maurizio Sarri has made Juve a little too open and the visitors can take advantage by avoiding defeat so take Atalanta or the draw in the double chance market at odds of 10/13*.
Sassuolo to Inflict More Misery on Lazio
Lazio’s surprise tilt at grabbing the Scudetto looks over and they could be vulnerable when free-scoring Sassuolo visit the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.
Simone Inzaghi has given up on the title and insists his side are just aiming for Champions League qualification, but they must be downbeat following losses to AC Milan, Atalanta and Lecce since the restart.
Even in the games they won – against Fiorentina and Torino – they had to do so from behind.
Sassuolo have scored 15 goals in their last five matches, recording a draw at Inter Milan and wins at Fiorentina and Bologna. They are a juicy option to win at 19/4.
Go for Goals in Naples
Napoli and AC Milan can both be pleased with their form since the Serie A restart and can serve up a Sunday night thriller.
This is a big match for Napoli manager Rino Gattuso, who made his name playing for Milan but was also dumped as their boss when the Rossoneri tried to move on to bigger and better things.
It may have been a mistake with Gattuso already leading Napoli to success in the Coppa Italia. The Partenopei, however, have not kept a clean sheet in their last nine home games and Milan have scored in each of their last 13 matches – the last of which was that spectacular success over Juventus.
Milan have conceded 16 times across their last six trips to Naples and the hosts have scored at least twice in each of their last five Serie A home games so goals looks an obvious shout. Both teams to score is 20/31 and over 2.5 goals is 10/13.
