Serie A continues to provide thrills, spills and plenty of goals each week and it looks set to be another enthralling weekend in Italy’s top flight with Juventus versus Roma the highlight.
Allegri Getting Things Together
Juve started the season poorly but recent results have picked up and they can take care of the Romans at the Allianz Stadium at odds of 20/23.
Massimiliano Allegri was always going to need a bit of time to shake Juve up having returned to the club in the summer, with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo leaving a significant void to fill.
Individual mistakes played a part in the slow start as the Bianconeri were held to draws by Udinese and Milan and lost to Empoli and Napoli. However, since then, Allegri’s men have won three on the spin as well as making a perfect start to their Champions League campaign.
The 1-0 triumph over Chelsea was much more like the old Juve, defending well from deep, while Federico Chiesa offered a potent option on the counter-attack.
Jose Mourinho will have been pleased with the start made by his new Roma side too, with five wins in seven matches, particularly as the Giallorossi have scored 16 goals in the process.
However, Roma have lost their two most difficult away matches at Verona and Lazio (a game that was played in their shared stadium with the local enemy) and in both fixtures, Mourinho’s men shipped three goals.
Napoli Can Maintain Perfect Start
Napoli are riding the crest of the wave at the moment following their perfect start to the Serie A season, with Luciano Spalletti leading the club to seven straight league wins.
They have scored 18 times and conceded only three to make a real statement in terms of the title and it should be eight in a row when Torino visit Naples.
Napoli have scored at least twice in every game and possess many different scoring options in the final third, so it’s understandable they are long odds-on to win. A better bet could be to take the Partenopei to win on the moneyline with over 2.5 goals in the game at 11/10.
Torino look a much better side than the one that scrapped against relegation last season and the only time they have failed to score came in the derby defeat to Juventus.
Even in defeat, Torino managed more shots than Juventus (13-10) and manager Ivan Juric looks a shrewd appointment from Verona back in the summer.
Lazio versus Inter Milan is a mouthwatering prospect with Simeone Inzaghi heading back to Rome to take on his former club. However, for a better bet, take AC Milan to make light work of Verona at San Siro.
Mighty Milan to Make Short Work of Verona
The Rossoneri revolution is in full swing, with Milan leading the charge behind Napoli after a stunning start of six wins and a draw – that share of the spoils coming in a draw at Juventus.
Milan were deserving 3-2 winners at Atalanta before the international break and they have already put Lazio to the sword 2-0 at home. Indeed, all of their three home triumphs were by at least two goals and it’s worth backing them -1 goal on the Asian handicap at 25/28.
Verona were massively flattered by the 4-0 success over Spezia last time out and have conceded 14 times in their seven Serie A matches this term.
