There is a graded card at Crayford on Tuesday night with plenty of intrigue. The sun is shining, the weather is warming up and there is no better place to be on a night like this than at the dog track.
O’Flaherty’s Young Flyer Can Make Every Yard
It was a solid race debut from Joshuas Flyer and one he can build on at 19.07 for Katie O’Flaherty. He paced up well from the inside draw, despite exiting the traps a little askew before hitting top gear.
He has the same red jacket on his back tonight and in a race where there is little early pace, he can steal a march on these. A half-brother to four-time open race winner Lagile Sky, he could be one to follow up the grades this summer.
Class Drop For Cindy Can Pay Dividends
Luke Morrison has had to be patient with his Lightfoot Cindy, seeing her in action just once since late November. That was in an A2 contest where she found trouble everywhere she went.
An A1 winner at Central Park, her trials ahead of her return suggest that she has lost none of her zip. That should have blown any cobwebs away and a drop down into A3 at 21.18 is a nice bonus for her.
Deas Has the Sheriff of A8 Grade
The drop down a level can see Sheriff Sky back to winning ways for Nick Deas in the 20.23. An A8 contest here and it is a level that has seen her win four times in her last six races when competing at this rung of the ladder.
She is drawn outside one with some early pace, so she will not get things all her own way, but she ran the opening two turns beautifully when last successful and, if doing so again, can have herself in front by the third bend.
Sole Staying Race Can Go to Reynolds
The last time that You Never Change ran in an S5 was June 2019, back in that grade for Jim Reynolds in the 20.03. Two grades higher earlier in the year, she has been struggling to make an impact over shorter of late.
This race should be run to suit with a few short runners who have the potential to set up a pace collapse. The selection is a strong runner and combined with the drop in class, she can pick up the pieces late in the day.
Ex-Towcester Hound Can Bloom Into Crayford Rose
Nutty Rose is yet to race at Crayford but she has trailed in well for Allison Kelly-Pilgrim ahead of her debut at 18.48. She was a winner at Towcester in limited race action there, showing plenty of early pace.
This track should suit her as early gears are so often key here. There are trials on her card that catch the eye with regards to her potential class. Leading multiple open race winner Doolin Princess to the second bend at Towcester reads very well at this level, so she can get off the mark at the first time of asking.
