British heavyweight Joe Joyce returns to the ring this weekend, and he will be looking to put on a good display when he battles Michael Wallisch.
This weekend’s bout is considered a warm-up event for Joyce, with a British showdown with Daniel Dubois already in the pipeline for October 24.
Joyce to Look for a Fast Start
The 2016 Olympic silver medallist has not been in the ring since July last year when he beat Bryant Jennings on points.
It was the first time Joyce had been taken the distance, but he showed a new side to his game as he comfortably won via unanimous decision.
Joyce is 9/1* to win on points this time around, but he will be determined to avoid a long night’s work in Stratford.
His preparation for the fight has not been ideal due to recent events, but he should have far too much class for his German opponent.
Wallisch has already lost three times, with all three of his defeats coming in his last four outings.
He was stopped in all three contests, and a first-round knockout for Joyce is priced at 33/10.
Silverware on the Line for Bourke
England’s Chris Bourke will tackle Ramez Mahmood on the undercard, with the Southern Area Super bantamweight title on the line.
Bourke has yet to lose so far in his career, and he has shown he carries plenty of power after stopping five of his seven opponents.
Essex’s Mahmood has also never tasted defeat, but with only two knockouts to his name, he may struggle to keep Bourke at bay.
His last seven fights have gone the distance and Mahmood is 9/2 to win by points or decision this weekend.
Hall Up Against It
Mick Hall will need to produce the performance of his career when he meets Denzel Bentley on Saturday’s undercard. The middleweight pair will not be fighting for any titles, but Bentley could have one around his waist before the end of the year.
The London fighter has won 12 fights in a row, stopping 10 of his rivals along the way.
He has yet to lose, and he looks to have plenty of potential at just 25. Like Mahmood, Hall has struggled to end his fights inside the scheduled distance and Bentley is 7/1 to win inside the third round.
Louie Lynn is also in action on Saturday, and the 24-year-old will face Monty Ogilvie. Lynn has only fought on six occasions, but after five knockouts he looks a real prospect.
Ogilvie was stopped in October in his last fight and this weekend’s scrap looks like it could also be a difficult encounter.
