The feature race on Day 2 of The Welcome to York Ebor Festival is the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks. Snowfall has been the most impressive horse of the season so far, she started off at York in May in the Musidora Stakes where she beat the well-backed Noon Star. Since then, Snowfall has won the Oaks at Epsom and the Juddmonte Irish Oaks at the Curragh.

If there is a horse in this field that could stop Snowfall’s winning run it could be the four-year-old Wonderful Tonight trained by David Menuisier. Wonderful Tonight is also unbeaten this season after winning the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood.
“She’s a Classy Filly and Looks the Best One in the Race”
The first race on Day 2 is the Group 2 Lowther Stakes and Sandrine for the in-form Andrew Balding is the short price favourite in the race. Sandrine has already won the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket last time out. David Probert will be on onboard and he has been in fantastic form this year. David rode his 100th winner of the year last week at Nottingham and he has said about riding Sandrine, “Obviously she’ll have to carry a penalty in the Lowther, but she’s a classy filly and looks the best one in the race. Fingers crossed; she’ll give a good account of herself.”
“Top Jockey” on La Trinidad
La Trinidad’s last 2 runs have both come at York and he has won both of them. Today, he goes in the Clipper Logistics Handicap at 3:00 for Nawton based trainer Roger Fell and Roger has booked the red-hot Oisin Murphy which has to be a huge plus. Roger told me “He is in good form and his owner loves York nearly as much as him. Great to have a top jockey on too.” La Trinidad is currently available at odds of 6/1
.
Mr McCann who is trained by Tom Dascombe will be a popular horse on Day 2 as he is owned by Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and former Liverpool player Adam Lallana. He will carry top-weight in the 4:10 OR8 Wellness EBF Stallions Nursery Handicap and is not without a chance, a decent E/W bet at 20/1
.
