This weekend ITV Racing comes from Newmarket and from Ascot on Saturday. And of course the feature race of the weekend is the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe from Longchamp which runs on Sunday. You can watch all the big races on ITV Racing as well as via MansionBet’s live stream.
Read on to find out our tips for success this weekend.
ITV Racing from Newmarket on Saturday
1:45: British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap
A tricky handicap gets us underway at Newmarket on Saturday; Achelois has been strong in the market all week and is likely to go off favourite for the race. She has some good form coming in to the race and has won 3 out of her last 5 starts.
Swoon is an interesting contender for Sir Michael Stoute. She has only had the 3 runs to date winning twice and she could be anything. I’m inclined to go with her and hope she can still keep improving.
Selection – Swoon – 9/1
2:20: Tattersalls October Auction Stakes
There has been a bit of money around this week for Tatsumaki for Marco Botti, he will be ridden by the recently returned Neil Callan. He is unbeaten and won on his debut here over 7-furlongs in great fashion with Neil on board that day too.
In a wide-open race, the other horse to catch my eye was the two-year-old Adaay in Asia who will be ridden by Nicola Currie. She likes to be held up so will need some luck in running and the gaps to appear at the right times, but I think she could be the one staying on strongly at the end of the race.
Selection – Adaay In Asia – 7/1
2:55: Kingdom Of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes
The feature race of the day is the Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes and we have a fantastic field headed by Snow Lantern. She has really impressed me this season and I think she would have gone extremely close in the 1000 Guineas if she would have been allowed to run. She has also won the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes here at Newmarket in July and I certainly won’t be backing against her here today.
Snow Lantern does face some old rivals here today which includes the Aidan O’Brien trained Mother Earth. She was the winner of the 1000 Guineas back in May and was only half a length down on Snow Lantern when she won the Falmouth Stakes.
Selection – Snow Lantern 11/4

ITV Racing at Ascot on Saturday
2:05: Oakman Group Rous Stakes
Hurricane Ivor will be most punters fancy in this race as he brings the best recent form in to the race. He won a Group 3 at Newbury last time out beating 3 of his rivals who he faces today.
I am going to take Hurricane Ivor on with the Beverly Bullet winner, Tis Marvellous who has been running well. Adam Kirby takes the ride and I expect him to come home in front beating Hurricane Ivor.
Selection – Tis Marvellous – 7/2
2:40: Cumberland Lodge Stakes
Hukun has been running very well this season for Owen Burrows and Jim Crowley. They were unlucky last time out in the September Stakes at Kempton getting done right on the line by the fast-finishing Hamish. I expect him to get back to winning ways here today with Quickthorn chasing him home.
Selection – Hukum 2/1
3:15: John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes
The Bengough Stakes sees a few old rivals taking each other on again in a very competitive sprint over the 6-furlongs. Bielsa is here fresh from his win in the Ayr Gold Cup a couple of weeks ago and obviously has a very strong chance.
Glen Shiel has the been the horse for money this week and now tops the market for Archie Watson. Paul Mulrennan is booked to take the ride and Glen Shiel’s last win was here at Ascot nearly a year ago on Champions Day when he won the Champion Sprint Stakes.
I’m going to take a chance with my old favourite Summerghand. He always tries his best and runs in all these top sprint races. Danny Tudhope is booked to take the ride and you will see him coming late and fast here today. Let’s hope it’s fast enough and the cross the line in front.
Selection – Summerghand e/w – 10/1
3:50: The Fall Challenge Cup
The Challenge Cup handicap is the final live ITV race on Saturday and Aratus for Clive Cox heads the market at 6/1. He has had 5 starts to date, winning 4 of them and the other he was second on his debut at Newbury. He will have to step up and improve again and I don’t see any reason why that can’t happen.
Mums Tipple is one very frustrating horse, he bolted up at York winning like he was going to be one the best horses we have seen but it’s just not gone his way and he has just been disappointing. He is one of the outsiders in this race today but if he could recapture any of that old impressive form, he would be the one to beat and I’m going to give him one more chance.
Selection – Aratus – 6/1
, Mums Tipple e/w – 25/1
Racing from Redcar
3:35: Two Year Old Trophy
We have once race from Redcar today and it’s the Two-Year-Old Trophy. Vintage Clarets heads the market for Richard Fahey. He has been running well and in some big races but I would like to think there is a few better ones in this field than him.
That could be Symphony Perfect for Richard Hannon who we all know does extremely well with his two-year-olds. There has been sustained support all week for the filly and I’m siding with her in what does look a very competitive race.
Selection – Symphony Perfect – 6/1
Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Sunday
3:05: Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe
The big race of the weekend is the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and it’s one the best renewals in a long time. Adayar, the very impressive Epsom Derby winner heads the market at 11/4, they have been drawn in stall 11 which is not ideal. William Buick takes the ride and if they can repeat what Adayar did in the Derby they will win here today.
The race is packed with quality. Godolphin also have the St Leger winner Hurricane Lane in the race and James Doyle takes the ride. He won the St Leger with ease a few weeks ago so he will be primed and ready to challenge here today and I think he will get the better of his stable mate Hurricane Lane who has been given a very favourable draw in stall 2.
What a race it’s going to be and I’ve not even mentioned Tarnawa, who has been drawn in stall 3 which will give her a very good chance of winning the race. Snowfall who was supplemented for the race has been drawn in stall 9 which there has only been one winner in 50 years from that draw.
Selection – Hurricane Lane – 7/2
