Ukraine v France = Draw
Despite going off as favourites for Euro 2020, Les Bleus put in a number of incredibly underwhelming performances and crashed out on penalties to Switzerland. The Swiss made things tough for Deschamps’ men, however, there just wasn’t enough purpose to France’s attacking play.
Rumours of discontent within the camp failed to go away and they never appear to be too far away from self-combustion. Admittedly, they’ve made a good start to qualification despite dropping points in Paris to Ukraine.
Andriy Shevchenko’s side put on an impressive showing this summer and will be suitably tough to beat on their own patch here. They gave France a hard time when they met earlier in the qualification campaign and they will be confident of taking something from this encounter.
Serbia v Luxemburg = Over 2.5 Goals
Serbia have made a bright start to life in Group A and they will be confident of taking all three points in this one. They’ve scored seven times in their opening three matches although they are yet to keep a clean sheet (despite playing Azerbaijan!). They held Portugal to a 2-2 draw recently and should be able to rack up a few goals here.
Luxembourg are no pushovers and did beat Ireland recently. They also scored against Portugal earlier in the qualifying campaign and could easily chip with a goal. This could be an entertaining 90 minutes.
Finland v Kazakhstan = Finland to WIN
Neither of these sides are likely to be brushed aside and this is unlikely to be nip and tuck. However, Finland have a little extra quality in the final third and that could tip the balance in their favour. The Finns were solid enough at the Euros this summer and their home form is generally very strong. They beat ROI and Bulgaria in the Nations League and held Bosnia and Herzegovina to a 2-2 draw in their previous home qualifier.
Kazakhstan lack goals, and they are yet to register a win during the qualifying period, and they won’t be overrun easily. However, they just lack a little firepower and that could prove to be their downfall.
Kosovo v Greece = Greece to WIN
Since changing their manager, Greece have become increasingly tough to beat. John V’ant Schip is averaging 1.79 points per game since taking the hot-seat and he has been defeated on just three occasions, all three of which came away from home. They beat Norway back in June and both of their previous qualifiers have ended 1-1. Their 1-1 draw at Spain was particularly eye-catching and they can’t be far away from collecting maximum points.
Kosovo have been very entertaining to watch over the last couple of years, however, they’ve struggled during the qualifying period. Admittedly, they’ve faced Spain and Sweden, so this should be a little easier. However, they could find a resurgent Greece too tough.
