The York Ebor Meeting starts this week and it is crammed full of quality Flat racing. Monday morning is probably not the most ideal time to be napping horses for later in the week, but I’ll have a good go nevertheless.

In other horse racing news…
Palace Pier just held off the late challenge of Poetic Flare to register back-to-back victories in the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard Jacques le Marois at Deauville on Sunday. John and Thady Gosden’s stable star had only been defeated once in nine previous career starts.
Bookmakers reacted by chopping Palace Pier to 7/4 from 2/1 for Ascot’s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, a race in which he finished third last season.
Back-to-back victories were the order of the weekend as Hukum did just that in Newbury’s Geoffrey Freer Stakes. Possible trips to the Breeders’ Cup Turf and the Hong Kong Vase are on the cards for The Shadwell-owned runner now.
Meanwhile on the same card, the William Haggas-trained Sacred claimed the Hungerford Stakes.
At Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse (Ripon), Justanotherbottle (18/1) landed the Great St Wilfrid Handicap under Kevin Stott for trainer Kevin Ryan. Co-owner Steve Ryan told the Racing Post after the race: I’ve got two runners in the Gimcrack, Gis A Sub and Spitting Feathers, so it could be a big few days.”
