The Bundesliga’s Friday night fußball this week is a cracker from the capital, as Hertha Berlin host city rivals Union at the Olympiastadion.
Hertha came out of the traps quickly in their first game back last week, putting Hoffenheim to the sword in a resounding 3-0 away day triumph that shot them up to 11th in the standings.
Union cross Berlin off the back of a 2-0 home reverse to league leaders Bayern Munich, and as a result are looking up at their neighbours in the league table for the first time since Matchday 2.
However, having beaten their local adversaries 1-0 in the first Berlin derby of the modern Bundesliga era back in early November, Union will be determined to put Hertha in their rear-view mirror again as soon as possible.

Hertha Berlin team news and injuries
January signing Krzysztof Piatek was dropped to the bench last week by new Hertha boss Bruno Labbadia, and the striker will expect to be named among the subsitutes again for the Berlin derby after Die Alte Dame’s impressive 3-0 win at Hoffenheim.
Matheus Cunha excelled and scored at number 10 for Hertha in that victory and should reprise his role as the team’s chief creator on Friday.
Per Skjelbred could drop out of midfield to make room for the suspension-free Vladimir Darida, while 33-year-old right-back Peter Pakarik is likely to continue in the back four.
Defender Karim Rekiki and attacker Marius Wolf are still ruled out however.
Union Berlin team news and injuries
Key centre-half Keven Schlotterbeck, who features in our 7 Bundesliga defenders to watch guide, will miss the Berlin derby through suspension.
Star striker Sebastian Andersson is expected to be restored to Union’s staring XI having only been deemed fit enough to take up a position on bench against Bayern Munich last weekend.
Attacker Shiraldo Becker remains in the treatment room, while Grischa Prömel could make way for Christian Gentner in midfield after a poor showing against Bayern.
Robert Andrich and Christopher Lenz have extra motivation to succeed on Friday – the Union pair spent time across town in the Hertha academy during their formative years.
