The match at the Parc des Princes will be the curtain-raiser to a busy weekend in the French top flight, with two more fixtures scheduled for Saturday, while there will be seven in total across Sunday.
PSG to Overcome Lille Hoodoo
The meeting of the last two Ligue 1 champions will take place on Friday night, with PSG already looking well placed to regain the crown Lille won last season, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side will head into the contest sitting seven points clear at the top of the standings and 13 ahead of their mid-table opponents.
However, PSG have come unstuck against Lille in the last two meetings between the two sides, losing their title showdown in Paris back in April, while they were also beaten in the Trophee des Champions at the start of the current campaign.
In total, Lille have only lost one of their last four meetings with PSG, but Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side have struggled for consistency so far this season, winning just once across their previous five games.
PSG will be without Kylian Mbappe for Friday’s match, but Lionel Messi is expected to play, which will undoubtedly boost the likelihood of a home win.
That victory could well be to nil if recent meetings in this fixture are anything to go by, as at least one of these two teams has failed to score in each of the last six encounters, making the home win to zero the most appealing outcome at 21/20.
Rennes to Maintain Hot Streak
Rennes are flying in Ligue 1 of late, as no team has collected more points (13) and conceded fewer goals (3) across the last six games than Bruno Genesio’s side.
That impressive form has not just been restricted to domestic action, as Rennes are on a five-match winning run across all competitions and they have won three on the spin on their travels heading into Sunday’s trip to Troyes.
Troyes have also hit form of late, winning back-to-back games against Nice and Reims, but that represents two thirds of the victories last season’s Ligue 2 winners have achieved since their promotion.
Rennes are also unbeaten on their last four trips to Troyes, recording two wins and two draws, and they are priced at 1/1 to add another victory to that impressive run this weekend.
Nice Result Expected for Visitors at Angers
After a bright start to the season, Angers have only won one of their previous seven matches in Ligue 1 and they were held to a draw by bottom of the table St Etienne last time out.
Nice’s form has been trending in the opposite direction, as they have only lost once across their last five Ligue 1 fixtures, while only PSG and Lens have collected more points on the road than Christophe Galtier’s side this term.
Les Aiglons did the double over Angers in convincing fashion last season, winning both matches 3-0, while they have only lost one of the last eight clashes between the two sides in total.
Another Nice win can be backed at 7/5 on Sunday, with the form of both teams suggesting that could well be the way to go.
