It’s been a great week of racing at Goodwood! Sadly, I’ve only been there for one of the days but there have been some brilliant results, none more so than Lady Bowthorpe winning the Nassau Stakes on Thursday for William Jarvis, Emma Banks and Kieran Shoemark. Kieran is one of the nicest jockeys in the weighing room and has worked so hard so he really deserves this success. William Jarvis also has been a stalwart in Newmarket – he last trained a Group 1 winner in 1994 so it was wonderful to see him enjoy another top level success nearly 30 years on!
Saturday – Goodwood
14:30 – 1m6f Summer Handicap
I thought URBAN ARTIST 5/1
looked a very fair price in this contest. She has proven herself to be a very useful mare who handles cut in the ground. She won here very well last year albeit off a lower mark. Oisin Murphy is riding out of his skin at the moment and I think she looks a very solid option against a few horses that have got a fair bit to prove.
15:05 – Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes (Group 2)
WONDERFUL TONIGHT 4/6
could be the real deal. She has gone from strength to strength and her last two wins at Ascot have been right out of the top drawer. She was an intended runner last week in the King George at Ascot but her trainer David Menuisier correctly pulled her out with the ground being on the firm side. The rain has come for her this week and I think she’ll be very hard to beat.
Stay safe,
Hayley!
