Woven ran well to finished 2nd at Goodwood on Sunday – David Simcocks’ horses are running really well and is a trainer to keep an eye on over the next few months.
Ascot: Friday 4th September
2.30 – George Scott
George Scott (11/2) is owned by the fun, new syndicate called “OffTheBridle Podcast” which was set up by friendly rivals George Scott and Charlie Fellowes. He ran very well at Wolverhampton on his one and only start. He should improve from that and is not without a chance.
3.40 – Entangling
Entangling (18/1) has been knocking on the door without managing to get his nose in front. He finished 3rd at Newmarket on Saturday for trainer David Elsworth and I think he will run his race again. He’s definitely worth an each-way shout.
4.15 – Tulfarris
Tulfarris (17/2) hasn’t run for a while so won’t have race fitness on his side, which the majority of the field do have. However, he’s got good course and distance form at Ascot having finished second in his last two starts over 1 mile, so we know the track suits.
5.20 – Flavius Titus
Flavius Titus (25/1) has not been as impressive this season but he is well handicapped and if he can reproduce some old form, he should have a good chance.
Ascot: Saturday 5th September
12.45 – Solomons Judgement
Solomons Judgement is making his debut for trainer Ed Vaughan. He’s been working well at home and as it’s not Ascot’s strongest 2yo race, I wouldn’t rule him out. I’m hopeful he’ll run a big race.
2.30 – Perfect Inch
Perfect Inch is a lovely filly trained by Charlie Fellowes. She has been going very well at home, the conditions will be perfect for her on Saturday and I think there’s more to come
3.05 – Noble Masquerade
Noble Masquerade (12/1) has a great chance in the big handicap and is one of my best rides – he’s trained by Eve Johnson Houghton and runs over 1m4f again. He didn’t finish too far behind Coconut, who he’s up against again, but he’s better off in the weights this time. He’s been in great form at home and I’m hopeful he’ll impress us on Saturday.
4.15 – Via Serendipity
Via Serendipity (15/2) is a horse I know very well; I won on him at Ascot over 1mile last time out – he’s still well enough handicapped even after going up 7lbs and I’m looking forward to riding him again.
