A quality afternoon of racing is in store at Haydock Park on Saturday and MansionBet are proud to be title sponsors for the afternoon at the Merseyside venue.
The highlights are the Listed Dick Hern Stakes (3.35pm) and the Group 3 MansionBet Rose Of Lancaster Stakes (4.10pm). Racing at Haydock is from 1.50pm-5.10pm and you can watch all seven races – as well every UK and Irish race – via live streaming when logged into MansionBet.
We’ve got race-by-race analysis of Saturday’s Haydock card below.
1.50 – MansionBet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap (1m)
Bowland Park was gelded during a short summer layoff and showed improved form to win at Epsom over a similar distance nine days ago, he’s got claims of better again from 4lb higher. Given the forecast is for ‘soft’ ground, this could be a good opening for YORKSHIRE LADY. She goes well with cut in the ground and won over this trip at Ripon in May, while she also ran a good race over 1m2f there at the start of this week.
Selection: Yorkshire Lady @ 11/2
2.25 – MansionBet Bet 10 Get 20 Handicap (1m)
The race didn’t pan out for FANTASTIC FOX at Ascot a fortnight ago. Silvestre De Sousa’s mount was held up and, with a slow pace in front, things conspired against him in a sprint finish. He still closed well to be third however and, from the same mark, the Frankel colt should harbour decent claims now.
Selection: Fantastic Fox @ 6/4
3.00 – MansionBet Beaten By A Head Handicap (7f)
Sucellus won on penultimate start over C&D and might be best forgiven a lesser effort since at Chester, though that does raise concerns about the prospect of soft ground now. LION RING finished third at Newmarket (6f, good) last week on just his second start for this trainer. The Irish import is untested at 7f but shapes as though he’ll handle it. He may well figure receiving weight all round.
Selection: Lion Ring @ SP
3.35 – British Stallion Studs EBF Dick Hern Stakes (Fillies’ And Mares’ Listed, 1m)
It was certainly ambitious to see POTAPOVA in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Ascot in June on just her third start. Sir Michael Stoute’s filly couldn’t manage that sharp rise in class but was not overly burdened once her chance had gone. She was 2-2 before that and the Invincible Spirit filly can get back on the up now with Hollie Doyle on board. The consistent Waliyak is amongst the alternatives/dangers.
Selection: Potapova @ 9/4
4.10 – MansionBet Rose Of Lancaster Stakes (Group 3, 1m2½f)
He briefly looked outpaced at Newbury three weeks ago before getting well on top of a promising 3YO in Derab at the line (conceding plenty of weight) and REAL WORLD is now 2-2 on turf having won the Hunt Cup in June at Royal Ascot. The Godolphin colt looks sure to have plenty more in his locker at this sort of distance and he can prove too strong for these rivals.
Selection: Real World @ 7/4
4.40 – MansionBet Watch And Bet Handicap (7f)
Acquisitor is on the hunt for a four-timer but Phil Kirby’s charge had nothing to spare at Chester last time and, despite only going up 2lb, might find the winning run snapped. Northbound has the stamina but may not relish the going, so preference is for LEAD STORY. She misfired when bidding to make all here last time but her earlier form this summer was quite promising. She should get something to aim at with Russco in the field and that could make the difference for Karl Burke’s filly.
Selection: Lead Story @ SP
5.10 – Follow MansionBet Handicap (7f)
He’ll want some pace to aim at but NORTHERN EXPRESS came and claimed a last-time-out scorer at York (7f, good to firm) a fortnight ago and the manner in which that progressive rival was overhauled suggests better to come under similar tactics. Michael Dods’ charge also has winning soft-ground form and won’t be put off on the forecast ground.
Selection: Northern Express @ 13/8
