Just graded cards tonight and nothing in the evening on Christmas Eve so it’s an open looking Monmore card as our final port of call this side of Christmas.
Easier Sprint for Billingham’s Hound
A sprint contest at 20.23 can go to Kim Billingham’s Across The Field. He has only run in open race class since arriving from Ireland, dropping into a D1 for the first time tonight.
The slide in class makes things easier for him, beating the third in the final of the National Sprint in the opening round of that competition at the start of the month. That form reads well at this level.
Moanteen Can Sweep to Victory
Lee Field has Moanteen Sweep in excellent form of late, producing a win at this level at the start of the month. He has kept better company than this in two starts since, successful in an open when last in action.
It’s the middle run that catches the eye the most, beaten three-quarters of a length by Bull Run Norris. He turned that around last time out and a repeat of that sets a strong standard at 21.02.
Sallis Gunning for Win With Gregory
Things have not fallen right for Skyfall Gregory in a pair of starts back from a break. Trap 3 was no help to him last time out so the return to the red jacket should see him in a far better light, right on the rails.
He boasts some smart runs back in the summer here for trainer Paul Sallis. A number of sub 28.50 runs to his credit, those looking rock solid at this level. A clear run should put him front rank at the end of the 18.17.
Thompson’s Charge Looks Ready to Rumble
Romantic Rumble went straight into top grade when arriving at Monmore, taken into the care of Brian Thompson. Twice a winner at that level in September, he missed two months ahead of a return to action.
A pair of runs in A2 have been a fair way short of his best but he slips down into an A3 at 19.24, a further rung down the ladder that might just make all the difference to him.
Fereday’s Swift Trapper to Make Every Yard
A winner at this level in September in a solid 28.75, Corcass Swift is closing in on fourteen weeks out of season. Another couple of weeks are required to see her back to her absolute peak but she’s getting near now.
Her early pace can see her go clear in the 20.43 for trainer Christopher Fereday and anything close to her best would see her very hard to pick up again.
