It’s the final of the £15,000 to the winner Oaks at Perry Barr tonight. Two Irish finalists have justified connections planning by making the decider and the pair finishing first and second looks entirely possible.
Oaks Win for Cilla No Surprise Surprise
Skywalker Cilla has done everything perfectly so far in the Oaks for Mark O’Donovan. She has super pace to the bend, leaving some smart names trailing in her wake on an unbeaten romp to the final.
She clocked a 27.98 in the opening round of the competition, just 5 ticks off the track record. The winner of the Irish Derby consolation in September and the Champion Bitch at Thurles in March, she can further her bulging resume at 21.11.
Dusty to Cement Spot as New Sprinting Star
Having looked a nice type over 400m at Romford, Crossfield Dusty has taken off for the drop to a two-bend trip here. He looks adaptable with regards to trap draw which is unusual for a pup with so little experience.
He stopped the clock at 15.84 when last drawn in trap 2 as he is tonight, the track record standing at 15.81. A January 2020 whelp, he should still have better to come for Patrick Janssens, starting with the 20.36 tonight.
Six Bend Debutant to Be Suited by New Trip
There has been some solid form over four bends from Lights Out but she shapes as if there is better to come from her now that she steps up to six bends.
She is not entirely straightforward but she should be able to get on the bunny early tonight and that can help her. Kev Hutton has his kennel in great shape at present and she can continue the run of winners at 19.16.
Denver to Send Hutton Mile High
Hutton can double up with Signet Denver in the 18.59. The stunningly bred pup has shown bundles of natural ability so far, beaten a short head in the final of the Bgbf Puppy Cup at Towcester last time out.
He has some solid form here to his credit as well. A 28.28 scorer at the end of September is a smart time for one of his age. As long as he can hold his position on the inside to the bend, he’s very much the one to beat.
Mullins Sprinter to Enjoy the Orange Jacket Once More
Matts Malibu is 2/2 at this track when sporting the orange jacket of trap 5. Consistency has been a little bit of a concern with him in recent starts but at his best, he is one of the better sprinters in the country.
A 16.03 when last in winning form here, a repeat of that would make him too hot to handle in the 19.51 for Romford handler David Mullins. He can extend his unbeaten record from this slot here.
