Tonight sees six heats of the All England Cup over 480m at Newcastle. It looks like a strong renewal once more this year with Angela Harrison holding an incredible hand across the card.
Bob’s Your Uncle, Coolavanny’s Your Aunty
Harrison can kick the evening off in style with Coolavanny Aunty in heat 1 at 18.41. She didn’t make her debut until the final day of March this year but has quickly made up into one of the smartest bitches in the country.
The Empress Stakes winner at Towcester, she was a close second in both the Angel Of The North over this course and distance as well as the Arc Puppy Classic at Nottingham. The ante-post favourite can get her campaign off to a winning start.
Lloyd to Show Further Progression
The second favourite for overall glory is another Harrison hound, Brynoffa Lloyd. He gets his bid for glory underway from the inside trap at 19.16. This has not been an ideal slot for him in the past but recent times suggest he can overcome it.
He has the odd smash break in his locker but generally he has done his running from slightly off the pace, a powerful performer over a stiff four bends. This is only the 12th start of his life so he’s entitled to improve for a while yet.
Rebel to Show His Hardiness Again
Hardy Rebel can add to the Harrison haul at 19.51. He is 5/6 when running from trap 4 at this track and has improved since he was last seen here in early September.
Through the autumn he has gradually made up into a genuine competition dog, contesting the final of the Eclipse most recently at Nottingham. This is a decent field but that sets the standard.
Punters to Shout Hooray for Harrison
Six heats of the All England Cup and Droopys Hooray can make it a four-timer for Harrison at 20.36. He notched up a four-timer of his own at this track recently, clocking some slick times.
Smart early pace is the order of the day with him, with his last three wins coming at a combined distance of 23 lengths. In the form of his life, he can go in again.
Cunningham’s Dode to Lay Down His Marker
There is no Harrison runner in the 20.06, which gives George Cunningham a chance to notch up a win with Narcos Dode. He was an impressive 28.49 winner here on his debut in May but has not managed to back that up since.
Two recent trials here have been a step in the right direction, however, so this track clearly suits him well. He beat a bitch in those who was an Oaks semi-finalist and an Arc Classic finalist, so he is a very interesting runner.
