Tuesday’s at Towcester continue to produce good quality graded action and tonight is no different. There are some fascinating new recruits on the card who look worth following up the grades.
The most interesting runner on the card is a debutant called Signet Denver. He kicks off his career in A5 grade for Kevin Hutton at 19.56. He is stunningly bred from a family who the kennel have enjoyed success with.
The grading in trials from him read well, just caught close home last time by a multiple open race winner who bolted up in A2 grade at Towcester yesterday. That strongly suggests that this pup starts his career at a very winnable level.
Mullins behemoth to relish drop in grade
The opening race of the night is at 18.09, where Rackethall Leo can take advantage of the step down from A2 to A3. He has been keeping some solid company for John Mullins, including winning an open race at Romford.
He is a little trimmer than the 40.5kg’s he topped the scales at when racing in Ireland but he is still a huge hound. A strong stayer, his trapping has improved and the combination with a downgrade can see him score.
Gem to Make up for Last Week
Knocknaseed Gem was a costly failure for us last Tuesday night but he showed his class once more at Hove on Saturday night. That was an open race contest he won there, dropping back into D1 company tonight.
He is capable of trapping better than he has the last twice and can make it a quick double for John Mullins to begin the evening in the 18.28.
Darcy to Make it a Win in the Lucky Last
The final race of the night at 21.28 can go to Makeit Darcy for Frank Gray. She was a touch below par last time but that was her first run for more than seven weeks so she was entitled to come on for it.
She won at the level above this on the June 8 in a solid 16.21. A repeat of that makes her the one to beat, especially with the two liable to move off into the path of her main danger in three.
Dimmock has Gem of her Own
Four runs from Shesagem at D4 level have yielded three wins and a second. Heather Dimmock’s charge always needs careful consideration at this level and looks capable of leading up at 19.36 and not coming back. The five is an inconsistent trapper which should allow the selection all the space she needs from trap six.
