DESPITE the international break plenty of lower-league games north and south of the border and I’ll be focusing on some crucial games from the Scottish card as Dundee United host Alloa and Clyde welcome fellow promotion hopefuls Annan.
United have the chance to claw back the gap to 5 points today if they can overcome a stuffy Alloa side. Not much value in United but the home win and over 1.5 goals looks strong.
Clyde are flying at the moment and I really do feel for them with their 4-point deduction giving Peterhead the league almost. Should be goals between these two.
Dundee United vs Alloa
It was a huge win for United in midweek against league leaders Ross County and gives them the opportunity to close the gap today to 5 points (albeit County have a game in hand) and will have be a massive confidence booster as they head into the last part of the season.
There no doubt in my mind United will collect three points today and if they do I think they’ll score more than once. That makes the match result and match goal market look appealing.
As I’ve said before Alloa manager Jim Goodwin has done a terrific job on a shoestring budget and they are still in with a great chance of staying up as they fight it out with Thistle, Falkirk and QoS.
Away from home from they have struggled recently, conceding 2 or more goals in 10 of their last 12 matches on the road which is a real concern as they head to Tannadice against a United side who will be raring to go.
United to win this with two goals scored.
Recommended Bet
- Dundee United and over 1.5 match goals
- 3/4 (Coral) (NAP)

Clyde vs Annan
Two of the league’s in-form sides meet at Broadwood and I was initially going to back Clyde at even money but with Clyde needing to win this it might just open things up for Annan who are flying at the moment.
Eight of Annan’s last 9 matches have seen over 2.5 goals with them scoring 2 or more in 7 of those games – they are certainly capable of grabbing a goal here.
Their last 6 on the road all ended with both sides scoring and with David Goodwillie and John Rankin delivering the goods for Clyde. This should be a cracker with goals from both sides.
Recommended Bet
- Over 2.5 match goals
- 5/6 (Ladbrokes)
