The DP World Tour remains in Europe with a trip to Belgium for this week’s Soudal Open at Rinkven International Golf Club, Antwerp.
The 156 field with the top 65 including ties making the cut will all compete for a share of the $2M prize purse with the winner collecting the Soudal Open title and a winner’s cheque for $333,330.
Before I continue, it was good to be back in the winner’s enclosure on the DP World Tour last weekend. Our 20/1 tip Adrian Meronk won the Italian Open with a gladiator performance at the Marco Simone in Rome.
Jorge Campillo who I tipped at 35/1 EW finished in 8th place in his own for all you Each Way backers who got the 1-8 places. After picking the outright winner for my Telegram members on the PGA Tour the previous week, we are going for another hat-trick of winners this weekend.
Sam Horsfield will not be in attendance to defend his title as he has since defected to the LIV Golf set-up. His winning scorecard read 271, -13.
Soudal Open Preview
Rinkven International Golf Club will be playing 6,940 yards long this week. It’s a par 71 Parkland layout where accuracy and precision will be the key to success.
The weather forecasts rain, rain & more rain with showers predicted throughout. Saturday & Sunday mornings may see the best weather with sunny intervals but more rain is forecast in the afternoons. Breezes will peak at no more than 10mph.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf from 12.30 pm on Thursday afternoon.
Adrian Otaegui 18/1 EW Unibet 1-6 places
For my first and main betting tip to win the Soudal Open, I’m going to single out Adrian Otaegui 18/1 EW Unibet 1-6 places.
The 39-year-old Spaniard from San Sebastián ticks all the boxes for me this week and he could make his class show in a weaker field.
Otaegui ranks 8th on the DPWT for Driving Accuracy and this can be backed up with his Approach Play where he is the leader in this pack. He’s also hotter than most in this field with a putter so you can also rely on the Spaniard on the dance floors.
A return to action last week after a month’s layoff saw him finish inside the Top 40 and 15th place around here last year means course management won’t be a problem. I’m predicting lots of improvement from Otaegui this weekend in Antwerp and he looks like the most likely winner in my book.
Jorge Campillo 20/1 EW Bet365 1-6 places
For my next best selection I’m going to point you all in the direction of the man in form at the moment, Jorge Campillo 20/1 EW Bet365 1-6 places.
The 36-year-old from Caceres in Spain is a model of consistency on the DP World Tour these days and put in yet another fine performance last week at the Italian Open finishing inside the Top 10 yet again in 8th place.
That’s now five Top 10 finishes in as many attempts for the Spaniard with one of those being a victory at the Magical Kenya Open, truly phenomenal stuff and this form simply cannot be ignored especially in this field. Jorge Campillo is flashing up all over the radar at the moment. I’m predicting the amazing run of form to continue as he scoops his fourth DP World Tour title this coming Sunday afternoon when he’s crowned the Soudal Open Champion.
Eddie Pepperell 40/1 EW Unibet 1-6 places
For my final outright selection this week I’m going to advise Eddie Pepperell 40/1 EW Unibet 1-6 places.
I really like this kid and a Top 10 finish last weekend in Rome has certainly caught my attention. The 32-year-old Englishman from Oxford hasn’t been his usual steady self missing the first four cuts this year but just like him, I’m willing to forget that and focus more in his performance last week at the Marco Simone.
I’m going to focus more on his 9th place effort last weekend as that could be all it needs to kick start his season and we could see the steady Eddie we are more accustomed to this week in Belgium. Pepperell could spice things up this week just as he did at The British Masters and Qatar Masters where he was victorious at both.
You can look about for more Each Way places if need be as I think this price represents terrific value. If not winning, a place seems very realistic in my book
