The European Tour continues this week with the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club, Crans Montana, Switzerland.
The 155 field will all be competing for the title and the $2M purse around what is probably the most spectacular golf course on the planet.
There’s still a chance for a few to qualify or catch captain Padraig Harrington’s eye for the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits next month .
The weather is forecast to be sunny for the first two days with showers expected over the weekend.
This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf with live coverage starting at 12.30pm GMT on Thursday.
Last week at the Czech Masters we managed to get the place money once again with Jacques Kruyswijk finishing 7th at 28/1 and also landed the matchbet Nap with the same player beating Hugo Leon comfortably. Well done to everyone who collected with any winning selections.
So let’s move on with this weeks picks for the Omega European Masters.
Justin Harding
For my first and main selection I’m going to advise Justin Harding 28/1 EW Bet365.
The 35 yrs old South African has three Top 20 finishes in his last three starts. T7th at the ISPS Handa Invitational, 2nd and runner up at the Cazoo Open and T19th at The Open Championship at Royal St George’s.
Harding is currently inside the World’s Top 100 ranked players and has already won on the European Tour this year when winning the Magical Kenya Open.
Harding’s short game is second to none in this field and it’s going to be a key attribute this week in Switzerland around this short lay out.
He is a debutant here but as I’ve commented before, these South Africans can play anywhere on the planet and I’m going for Harding to make it a hat-trick of wins on the European Tour with another victory this weekend at Crans-sir-Sierre.
Calum Hill
For my next suggestion I’m going to single out a player who I advised only a fortnight ago to win his maiden European Tour Title and he duly obliged at 28/1 to the delight of us all at MFT. Yes it’s our very own Calum Hill 35/1 EW Bet365.
The young 26 yrs old from the kingdom of Fife in Kirkcaldy has a bright future ahead and will be winning lots more events, possibly even including a major in there somewhere, here’s hoping.
The Cazoo Classic victory came as no surprise as he was knocking on the door on numerous occasions since turning Pro.
With the European Title already bagged it will take away all the pressure and he can go out there and just enjoy his golf and show us all what he is capable of.
Before his win at the Cazoo Classic he was 4th at the Hero Open, 8th at the Betfred British Masters and 3rd at the Kenya Savannah Classic. These are all this year where he has finished inside the Top 20 on no less than eight occasions.
I can only see Hill coming to Switzerland firing on all cylinders, especially after his recent victory, and our very own homegrown talent can double up on his European crowns in no time this weekend.
Jacques Kruyswijk
For my next selection I’m going to look for some good old value and for that reason I’m going to advise another South African who is all over my radar at the moment Jacques Kruyswijk 55/1 EW Betfair.
Again I think the firms aren’t paying attention to the form book and if you ask my opinion then I think he is definitely overpriced.
I advised him last week at the Czech Masters and he didn’t disappoint, collecting the place money finishing 7th and I also tipped him to win the matchbet Nap which he done comfortably beating Hugo Leon.
He has ten Top 20 finishes this year with five of those in the Top 10 and two Top 5s. It’s going to be only a matter of time before this talented 28yrs old wins his maiden European Tour Title and if not winning then even just a place will return a tidy profit.
Martin Kaymer v Henrik Stenson
For my final selection it’s the customary matchbet and I’m liking the look of Martin Kaymer to get the better of Henrik Stenson 10/11 Nap Betfair.
