Golf Tips: DP World Tour Championship Preview & Predictions

16/11/2021 admin

It’s the grand finale with the European Tour’s stand out event for the DP World Tour Championship on the Earth Course, Jumeirah Golf Estate, Dubai.

After this event, the last on this year’s calendar, the European Tour will then become the DP World Tour from the start of 2022. It certainly seems to be an exciting package for almost everyone including players, caddies and fans, something for all golfing enthusiasts to look forward to next year.

This week the Top 53 players will all be competing for the $9m purse with the winner collecting the DP World Tour title and a cool $3m.

This par 72, desert course, playing 7675 yards long will be a test for all but this lay out may suit a big hitter with some accuracy.

There’s one name that springs to mind already but we will get to that shortly.

Matt Fitzpatrick returns to defend his title which he won last year when beating Lee Westwood here by a single shot.

The weather is forecast to be similar to last week here on the Earth Course’s sister, Fire Course. Hot and sunny conditions throughout but expect breezes to pick up again in the afternoons.

The conditions are important and I had a happy guy who follows my selections message me last week saying thanks for pointing him in the direction of a morning starter with calm conditions, he backed him to be first round leader at 40/1, and even better he had also taken my advice on Joachim B Hansen to win the Dubai Championship, also at 40/1. Well done you mate, you know who you are!

I was absolutely delighted to deliver you all yet another bumper winner last weekend, I did say that I would try and pick another one out the bag before Christmas and I did just that. It’s been an absolutely phenomenal year for my selections. With profits almost hitting the £5000 mark to just £10 stakes it’s just incredible.

As I’ve mentioned before I’m just so glad I can help out and it’s what makes it all worthwhile. Thank you also kindly for all the likes and DMs etc. I hope you’ve all enjoyed my European Tour winners and previews this year, I’ll post an update of the exact figures we are in profit on the website soon.

So onto this week’s much anticipated Race to Dubai and let’s try single out the likely contender to win around this desert track.

Rory McIlroy

For my first and main selection I’m sorry but I just cannot leave out the one you all know who is my favourite, Rory McIlroy 6/1 EW Bet365.

Rory has already made us a profit this year and could end the year with a bang in Dubai. The last time I said he’d be back with a bang he certainly did just that when winning the Wells Fargo Championship at an advised 20/1.

The 32yr old Irishman has won this event twice and after coming off yet another recent tremendous victory when winning the CJ Cup, I just have a feeling that Rory may be the one they all have to beat here in Dubai.

With four Top5 finishes at his last three events, Rory is on fire again and it’s all looking good for the talented Irishman once more.

I’ll be roaring on Rory for sure and although I’m not impressed with the price, he’s the player I’ll be backing.

Bob MacIntyre

For my next selection I’m going to advise yet another of my favourites, our very own homegrown talent, Bob MacIntyre 55/1 EW Bet365.

The 25yr old Scot from Oban will be looking to double up on his European Tour victories anytime soon and it could come with a win this weekend.

The only problem is that Bob hasn’t won an event since collecting his maiden title at the Cyprus Showdown last year. He has however put in some tremendous efforts at the Majors finishing T12th at The Masters where he dazzled in Augusta winning an invitation back to next years Masters.

He finished an even better T8th at The 149th Open Championship this year at Royal St George’s so even although he’s not recorded a win this term, he’s still entertained us with some sublime performances.

MacIntyre really enjoys it here on these Earth and Fire courses, he was challenging here last year going into the final round but carded a poor 77 on the scorecard to eventually finish 23rd. Let’s hope Bob can finish the year on a high with a victory at an attractive price.

Collin Morikawa

For my next pick I’m going to suggest Collin Morikawa 17/2 EW Ladbrokes.

The young, talented 24yr old from California has had another excellent year winning yet another Major, this time at Royal St George’s with The 149th Open Championship in the bag.

He has also added the WGC Workday Championship at the Concession to his CV this year. T4th at US Open, T8th at The USPGA Championship, T4th at the Olympics, he was also a recent runner up at the CJ Cup and finished runner up at the Memorial Tournament earlier this year.

Morikawa is always a danger wherever he plays and he could show them all just how it’s done with another stunning display with those irons on his way to victory in Dubai.

Matthew Fitzpatrick v Abraham Ancer

For my final selection it’s the customary matchbet Nap that has also been very kind to us this year . This week I’m liking the look off Matthew Fitzpatrick who has a proven track record around this Earth Course to beat Abraham Ancer 10/11 Nap Betfair.

DP World Tour Championship Tips

  • Rory McIlroy 6/1 EW Bet365
  • Robert MacIntyre 55/1 EW Bet365
  • Collin Morikawa 17/2 EW Ladbrokes/Bet 365
  • Matthew Fitzpatrick to beat Abraham Ancer 10/11 Nap Betfair, 72 hole matchbet
