THe USPGA tour is at the Phoenix Open at Scottsdale this week for of the best attended tournament on the circuit.
Noted for the “Bear Pit” at the 16th with over 20,000 people watching that hole and defying all the rules of golf with plenty of drink and noise, and if you miss the green on this par 3 expect plenty of abuse.
A par 72 course over 7,250 yards and with 4 of the top 5 in the World in Saudi the field is a little weaker than normal. Justin Thomas heads the betting.
Last week two selections in the top 10, Jason Day finished 5th and in place paying position while Gary Woodland had a good finish to finish tie 9th. So two top 10 finishes and an each way ensured a profit on the day,
Selections for this week
Jon Rahm
JON RAHM loves this part of the world and this tournament in particular.
He played his college golf in Arizona and always plays better in the Desert.
Rahm faded in the back nine last Sunday but will relish this opportunity in a weaker field.
Xander Schauffele
Again a selection last week, XANDER SCHAUFFELE finished tied 25th but is a better player than that. He’s full of confidence can go close this week.
Tony Finau
TONY FINAU finished tied 13th last week, carding 4 rounds under Par as well. His confidence was boosted by being in the Ryder Cup team and feels he belongs with the other top flight golfers.
He hits a long ball and a is good putter which will give us a good run this week.
