FOR the second week running one of our selections held (jointly) the 54 hole lead yet failed to convert it into victory.
So that’s four players in the last two weeks who have led into the final round and failed to convert into a victory. Close but no cigars. Hopefully better luck this week.
The European Tour heads to Malaysia this week for the Maybank Championship played over a Par 72 course of 7135 yards. The course is tight with tree lined fairways so accuracy from the tee and a good touch around the greens are essential.
Our three players this week are
RYAN FOX….Ryan is now up to a world ranking of 73, an extremely long and accurate driver will find this course to his liking. Finished tied 3rd last year on his debut here and can be a serious contender this time around.
JORGE CAMPILLO,,,, in excellent form this year having finished 2nd in Oman and Qatar ( his last two events) loves this course and finished 2nd last year, will surely if he brings anything like his ‘A’ game this week will be in the mix. An improving golfer who will be in the winners enclosure very shortly.
MIKE LORENZO-VERA…… another player who is a favourite of mine and like Campillo still looking for his first victory on Tour. In good form he has solid each way chances if he can put together 4 rounds in the mid s0’s.
