Golf Betting: BMW International Open Betting Tips and Preview

21/06/2023 admin
The Caddys Golf Tips

The DP World Tour continues this week with the BMW International Open at Golf Club Munchen, Eichenreid, Munich, Germany.

The 156 field with the top 65 including ties will all be competing for a share of the $2M prize purse with the winner collecting the BMW International Open title & a winner’s cheque for $333,330.

Golf Club Munchen will be playing 7,284 yards long this week, it’s a par 72 Parkland layout where the key attribute will definitely involve a hot putter to grab all those birdie opportunities, expect another low-scoring affair in Munich this time around.

Haotong Li returns to Munich to defend the title he won last year beating LIV defector Thomas Pieters in a playoff. His winning scorecard read 266, -22.

The weather forecasts cloudy & humid conditions on Thursday & Friday with scattered showers while Saturday & Sunday will see the best of the weather with sunny & hot conditions. Breezes will peak at around 15mph.

This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf with live coverage starting at 11.30 am on Thursday morning.

Pablo Larrazabal 33/1 Unibet 1-6 places

For my first and main selection in Munich this week I’m going to single out Pablo Larrazabal 33/1 Unibet 1-6 places. The 40-year-old Spaniard from Barcelona won this event twice in 2011 & 2015. Pablo has the luxury to pick and choose his events on both the PGA & DP World Tours including majors. He is seeking a Ryder Cup place at the Marco Simone in September & arrives in Munich on the back of two victories in the last four attempts.

Larrazabal will look for the ha-trick of W’s in 2023 this coming Sunday to secure that Ryder Cup place in the European team.

The winner at both the Korea Championship & the KLM Open in a matter of weeks has Pablo Larrazabal flashing red all over the radar. Putting will be a key factor determining the winner this week at Golf Club Munchen & Larrazabal is one of the hottest in this field on the dance floors. Last year the talented Spaniard finished 5th around here so it’s clearly an important event on his calendar not forgetting the above-mentioned twice he has won this tournament.

He’s been reliable for us over the years so I’m going for more of the same this coming Sunday as Pablo Larrazabal dances all the way into the Golf Club Munchen Clubhouse with the most important spectator Luke Donald looking on.

Welcome to the 2023 Ryder Cup team Pablo.

Rasmus Hojgaard 16/1 EW PaddyPower 1-7 places

For my next best selection to win the BMW International Open, I’m going to point you all in the direction of Rasmus Hojgaard 16/1 EW PaddyPower 1-7 places. The 22-year-old from Denmark is the one they all have to beat in Munich this week if you ask me and if it wasn’t for Pablo above, Rasmus would definitely have been my main pick for this event.

If this talented kid gets going he will take some stopping. He is another who is hotter than most with the Putting stick where he ranks 13th on the DPWT for Putting stats. The young Dane became the third youngest player to win on the DPWT when scooping the Mauritius Open in 2019 at only 18 years old.

Since then he has gone on to scoop the ISPS Handa UK Championship (2020) & the Omega European Masters (2021). Having only entered seven events this year because of an injury, Hojgaard can still boast three Top 20 finishes with two of those inside the Top 10.

T6th at the Ras Al Khaimah Classic & 3rd at the KLM Open are definitely both worth a mention. He carded 279 around here last year finishing on -9 which earned him a place inside the Top 40.

This is not just all about the W for most of these players this weekend in Germany, it’s more about Ryder Cup qualification with only a few tournaments left to cement a place you can rely on Rasmus to put in a concrete performance.

He would definitely be a welcome addition to take on the Americans in Rome and I can only see him up his game from here on in. It’s all about timing and with the injury behind him the time could be right for Rasmus Hojgaard to show the world that he’ll be one of the European Gladiators at the Marco Simone Colosseum in Rome come September.

Victor Perez 25/1 EW Boylesports 1-8 places

For my final outright selection,  I’m going to advise Victor Perez 25/1 EW Boylesports 1-8 places. Sometimes more than anything I just get a feel for a player to win a tournament and on more than a few occasions my instincts haven’t let me down, this could be a classic case this week in Munich with Victor Perez. The 30-year-old Frenchman has missed the cut twice at the last two attempts but I’m more than willing to forget about that, especially after missing the cut last weekend at the US Open.

Again just like others I’ve mentioned previously at least, he gets the opportunity to play at majors unlike most in this field. Look at it this way, before the two missed cuts, Perez finished T12th at the US PGA Championship and previous to that finished inside the Top 10 at the

Italian Open where he finished in 9th place. That was at the Marco Simone in Rome where this year’s Ryder Cup will be held in September. I’m not quite finished yet with Victor who has already won a DPWT event in 2023 when winning the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at the start of the year. All in all the Frenchman has three DPWT Titles but I’m focusing on the W this year and the 12th-place finish at Oak Hill just a few weeks back.

If Victor Perez arrives in Munich playing anything like he did at both those tournaments then he will definitely be challenging on the back nine on Sunday afternoon possibly on his way to winning the BMW International Open.

Stick a Y on Victor and see what you come up with.
