13:50 Goodwood – Unibet “15 To Go” Kincsem Handicap
It looks wise to focus on the unexposed here and none make more appeal than Taraashoq. He was clearly best in a five-strong group that pulled right away at Nottingham last time. All indications are that they are all fairly useful and a mark of 86 has taken a chance on Taraashoq’s potential. He is bred to thrive at the trip, too.
Selection: Taraashoq @ 15/2
14:25 Goodwood – Unibet Richmond Stakes (Group 2)
The Richmond is increasingly won by sprinters and that applies to quite a few of these. It certainly applies to Ebro River, who has shaped as though the stuff 6f at Ascot and Newmarket are at his upper limit the last twice. He has still run well both times and would be right there with only a little improvement over this quicker straight course.
Selection: Ebro River @ 11/2
15:00 Goodwood – John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (Group 3)
Wordsworth is a real stayer, he was running over 1m5f by May, and in a race where tactical speed may play more of a part than is ideal for him he could be beaten by Third Realm. The selection has taken Adayar’s scalp, and for all he is not quite as good as that makes him sound he is better than his fifth behind the same horse in the Derby.
Selection: Third Realm @ 3/1
15:35 Goodwood – Qatar Nassau Stakes (Group 1)
Audarya is the likeliest winner of the Nassau as she suits these Group 1s around 1m2f that test finishing speed. The value against her is Zeyaadah, particularly if they go hard as this filly is likely to be at least as good at 1m4f as 1m2f. Either way, she comes with more untapped potential than anything else in the field, which is not reflected in her price.
Selection: Zeyaadah @ 10/1
16:10 Goodwood – Goodwood Racecourse Patrons Nursery Handicap
Usually an indicative race of its type and it is interesting to note that the unbeaten Adjuvant comes out among the best of them on adjusted RPRs (which, in handicaps, point to where the official assessor might have got things slightly wrong). The horse he beat cosily at Salisbury last time has since come out and won by nearly five lengths, in case you need further endorsement.
Selection: Adjuvant @ 4/1
16:45 Goodwood – Tatler EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes
Nothing with form has achieved the sort of level it normally takes to win this fillies’ maiden, although Wilderness Girl got fairly close on her debut at the July meeting where she finished a staying-on second. Her pedigree suggests 7f will be fine for now and if she makes average first-to-second run improvement it will take an above-average one to beat her.
Selection: Wilderness Girl @ 5/2
17:20 Goodwood – World Pool Handicap
The near rail has been the place to be for much of the week and it is significant that Showalong has drawn 15 of 15 here. He is extremely quick, he has won at Chester and led well inside the 2f pole at Ascot last time before weakening. If he can nab the rail here he might take some pegging back.
Selection: Showalong @ 15/2
