Who is Ginger Pirlo?
I joined Football Index in Sep ’18 and deposited around £2.7k into the platform in my first month. I soon withdrew profits back to this point over time and have been ‘free rolling’ ever since. My ROI is approaching 2000% since I first joined, with my all-time profit breaking through the £50k mark early this year.
As for the 2019-20 season, I took on a challenge of creating a blog series that would monitor my progress whilst also sharing my strategies and some of my ongoing trades. I started the season with £6.7k and I am pleased to say it has been successful with cracking returns.
Importantly I am told regularly that it has been a great help to other traders, especially new traders looking for their own pathway on the index. You check out my series ‘Can I make a living from Football Index?’ for yourself via my Twitter account @GingerPirlo_FI or directly thegingerpirlo.com

Ginger Pirlo’s Weekly Football Index Roundup
Hello and welcome to the first Football Index weekly round up with myself @GingerPirlo_FI
Another interesting week goes by and there is never a dull moment on the Index. We have recently seen a new King of the Index crowned in Jadon Sancho, with him surpassing Neymar as the highest priced player last week.
Why? Plenty of reasons – he’s very likely to be heading to the Premier League in the summer, he is very young, he is English, and he is absolutely smashing it this season with goals and assists aplenty. The perfect storm for a player on the Index, and certainly one that most traders want a piece of.
My week on Football Index
This series will be bringing you some of the players I bought and sold on a week by week basis, along with my reasoning for doing so. I shall say straight off the bat that I won’t always get it right, as no trader on Football Index is perfect, but what I am is very active on the platform.
There are pros and cons to this, but one thing is for sure – I will bring you a bunch of interesting looking players on a regular basis. A week is a long time on the Index and all sorts can go on from one week to the next!
Football Index Buys and Sells
So, let’s get cracking, shall we? Here are some interesting transactions from the past week:
Bruno Fernandes – £6.12 (+£1.13 over the last week)
The Man Utd maestro was the star player on Sunday and took home not only the top match day dividends on offer of 16p, but he also smashed media dividends. If you include the 2p In-Play Dividends he brought home 21p per share in a single day. That’s a lot.
It was basically the perfect day anyone can have on FI, and throw in the fact he plays for the biggest and most supported team in the country and this type of return is always going to bring a lot of action.
I made the purchase as his penalty hit the back of the net on Sunday and he’s already risen £1 since then. An absolutely crazy rise and it just shows how much money is being put into the platform right now.
Diogo Jota – £2.36 (£1.12 rise at peak this week)
Not many players have a few days like the Wolves front man has had this week. He smashed a hat-trick on Thursday night in the Europa League, got linked with Man Utd for a couple of days after and then smashed in a first half brace vs Norwich on Sunday.
I bought him during the game on Thursday night, topped up more during the game on Sunday and then sold him to take home the profit. If was gonna be critical of myself I sold a bit too early, but I can’t complain about the rise he had. He will have to keep on smashing it in order to stay at that price, so there’s a chance he’s maxed out at the moment and we could see a drop over the coming weeks.
Bukayo Saka – £3.30 (£0.77 rise in the past week)
The young Englishman has been filling in at left-back for Arsenal this season, and a fine job he’s done too. His assists tally keeps rising and so has his price. There are plenty of Arsenal fans on the platform with deep pockets and if they see one of their own smashing it, then they want a piece of the pie.
Given his tender age it comes as no surprise that his stock has continued to rise with every impressive performance. He peaked at £3.37 this week, but with another assist in the Europa League on Thursday night this may be surpassed. Cracking talent.
Timo Werner – £5.03 (£0.62 rise since 12th Feb)
This is player I sold lately. I bought him off the back of some Liverpool links in the press, and with some favourable upcoming fixtures for RB Leipzig I thought he was worth a purchase. I bought in at £4.51 but certainly didn’t expect such a large rise so quickly.
I took the profit on him as he hit £5 because I’m unsure if the Liverpool rumours are more hearsay than concrete. If something more comes of this transfer rumour and it looks like he’s on his way to Anfield he could definitely be one to revisit.
Pirlo’s Potential Pearlers!
Predicting the future can be a tricky thing, but picking out the high profile talents is nothing to brag about. Messi is great, Neymar is amazing. We know this. So, here are few alternatives that may have some future benefits:
Jonathan David (KAA Gent) – £2.40
Jonathan David is a man in form. He can’t stop scoring for Gent and at the age of just 20 he is a player that is on the short list of many big clubs across Europe. He has Roma at home in the Europa League on Thursday and if he smashes them to pieces he will absolutely rocket in price.
Suso (Sevilla) – £1.89
Suso joined Sevilla in January and has slotted into the team with ease. He fits them like a glove. He quickly took charge of Sevilla’s set pieces, which is a major plus for any player on Football Index, and this has helped him with bring home some impressive Match Day scores. Sevilla are a tricky team to predict in terms of consistent team selection, but if he’s picked the Spaniard has two decent Gold day fixtures this week at home to Cluj and Osasuna.
Mark Uth (Koln) – £0.94
One of my favourite players on the index. Uth is still under a £1 and with his Match Day performance score potential, an eye for a goal/assist and some decent looking games coming up over the coming weeks (including a Bronze Day match vs bottom-of-the-table Paderborn) he may be breaking that £1 mark and beyond soon enough.
