It’s that time of year again where we look across the globe for some betting action but we don’t need to look too far tonight, just over the Irish Sea to the top flight in the Emerald Isle.
They’re midway through the season in the League of Ireland Premier Division and its last season’s runners-up, Derry City who lead the way, one point ahead of champions Shamrock Rovers.
Both are at home this evening and the straight win Double pays 6/5 but its worth noting that both sides have won less than half of their matches on their own soil so far.
They both lost last time out, Rovers in incredible circumstances when they had three players sent-off in a 1-0 defeat at Cork City. That means they’ll be missing Sean Hoare, Johnny Kenny, Richard Towell and Neil Farrugia who are all suspended for tonight’s match against Dundalk.
That, combined with a defeat in their last home game to Drogheda make them look uneasy 2/5 shots.
Derry City look a bit more assured at home to Shelbourne although the visitors could prove tricky opponents. They took a point at Shamrock Rovers back in April and have only been beaten twice in their eight on the road.
It’s always worth opposing bottom-side UCD. The Students are rooted to the foot of the table, nine points adrift of nearest team Cork City having picked up just six points from a possible 51 so far.
They host in-form St Pats who have won four of their last five – the only defeat for the Dubliners coming at city rivals Shamrock Rovers thanks to a late penalty.
