Scottish Cup quarter-final weekend kicks-off tonight at the Caledonian Stadium in Inverness where Premiership side Kilmarnock are the visitors.
Caley pulled off the result of the last round, winning 3-0 at Livingston – that, after they were given a reprieve by being re-admitted to the competition in place of Queen’s Park who fielded an ineligible player when they beat Inverness in the fourth round.
Billy Dodds’ men will be confident of prolonging their run in the tournament tonight against a Killie side who’s only away wins this season have come at Hearts in the League Cup back in August and Dundee United in the last round of this competition. It’s now 15 matches without a win in the road in the league so you couldn’t be backing Derek McInnes’ side with any confidence at 19/20 tonight.
They’ve not won in Inverness since 2010, 14 visits without a victory so the 12/5 on Caley winning inside the 90 minutes looks worth a shot.
In the Championship Queen’s Park should open up a four point gap at the top with a win over struggling Cove Rangers.
The Spiders put six past the Wee Rangers last time they met in January and since then Paul Hartley’s side have only won once. That form has sucked Cove in to the relegation battle at the bottom and they look like they’re in big trouble.
These are kind of games Queen’s Park need to be winning if they’re to come up as champions and they can do so with a few to spare this evening.
