After the international break the Irish Premier Division swings back in to action tonight and what better way to kick things off than with the biggest derby in the country; Bohemians v Shamrock Rovers.
The Dublin Derby sees fourth placed Bohs host table-toppers Rovers at Dalymount Park looking to put a dent in their rival’s title defence and to start to close the eight point gap between the sides.
However the Hoops look like they’re starting to hit top gear with three wins on the bounce without conceding, allowing them to put some distance between themselves and second-placed Derry City who have faltered in recent games.
By contrast, Bohemians have won just once in their last seven which includes a 2-0 defeat at Tallaght when the sides last met.
Like most derbies there’s a tendency to say that form goes out the window in this one but it’s Rovers that have largely had the upper hand in recent seasons and won 2-0 with a comprehensive performance on their last trip to the Northside of the city.
At 23/20 Rovers will be well supported to claim the three points to bolster their position at the top of the league.
St Patricks’ good run of form was ended by a 95th minute Darragh Markey goal for Drumcondra against his former club last time out but the Saints, who boast the second best record at home, can put that behind them tonight with a win over Shelbourne.
While all eyes will be on the aforementioned ‘big’ Dublin Derby, this one looks like it’ll also be a sell-out and John Daly’s men can harness that atmosphere to help them to all three points at 4/5.
As ever UCD are always worth opposing, tonight they welcome Sligo Rovers to the capital. Doubling the visitors with Derry City, who host second bottom Cork City pays just under even money.
